TWC payment approved but not received after 3 days - normal wait time?

I finally got my approval letter from TWC on Sunday and immediately did my payment request that same day. It's now Wednesday and I still haven't received any money in my account. The payment status on the website just shows 'processed' but nothing has hit my bank yet. Is this normal? First time filing unemployment and I'm getting anxious because rent is due next week. Does it usually take this long after approval? My letter said I qualified for $465/week if that matters.

it takes 2-3 business days sometimes, especially for first payments. sunday isn't a business day so really it's only been 2 days. i wouldn't panic yet

Thank you! Didn't think about Sunday not being a business day. Guess I'll wait another day before freaking out.

First payments typically take longer than subsequent ones. If you chose direct deposit, it usually takes 2-4 business days after the payment request is processed. Check your Correspondence Inbox on the TWC portal - there should be a payment statement showing the exact amount and date it was processed. If your TWC account says 'processed,' the money is on its way and your bank might just be holding it. What payment method did you select when you applied?

I chose direct deposit. I just checked my Correspondence Inbox and there is a payment statement from yesterday (Tuesday) that says it was processed for $465. So I guess that means it's coming? Maybe tomorrow or Friday?

Yes, that's exactly right. Since it was processed yesterday (Tuesday), you should see it in your account by Thursday or Friday at the latest. The first payment always takes the longest, but future payments will be more predictable once you're in the system. Make sure to keep completing your work search activities (minimum 3 per week) and submitting your payment requests on time!

I had the EXACT SAME THING happen!!! My first payment took a full 4 days after it showed as processed in the system. Every payment after that came like clockwork, 2 days after requesting. The TWC system is sooooo frustrating when you're waiting for money. They should really explain this better in the approval letter so people aren't freaking out!

did u check if ur bank info was entered correct? I messed mine up when I filled out my application and had to fix it. Almost gave me a heart attack when the money didn't show up lol

Omg I hadn't even thought about that! Just checked and the account number looks right. Phew!

It's perfectly normal for your first payment to take a bit longer. The TWC system is actually pretty reliable once you're set up in it. Here's what's likely happening:\n\n1. Your payment request on Sunday was received\n2. TWC processed it on Tuesday (according to your payment statement)\n3. The ACH transfer was initiated to your bank \n4. Your bank now needs 1-2 business days to post it to your account\n\nIf you don't see it by Friday, then you might want to contact TWC to check on the status. However, getting through to them on the phone can be incredibly frustrating. I spent days trying to reach someone when I had an issue with my claim last month. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through - they have a service that helps you skip the phone queue. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. Saved me hours of redial frustration.

Thank you for breaking it down! That makes sense about the ACH timing. I'll wait until Friday before worrying. Hopefully I won't need to call them, but I'll check out that service if I do. The one time I tried calling before, I gave up after being on hold for over an hour.

Does that service actually work? I've been trying to get through to TWC for a week about my determination letter having the wrong employer listed.

It worked for me. I was skeptical at first but I had already wasted so much time trying to call on my own that I figured it was worth a shot. Got connected in about 25 minutes instead of spending all day redialing.

When I first got approved last month, my payment showed up in my bank account 3 business days after the payment request was processed. So if your payment statement is dated Tuesday, you'll probably see it Friday. \n\nMake sure you're keeping up with your work search activities while you wait! I almost messed up my second payment because I didn't realize I needed to log 3 different job search activities each week. They're pretty strict about that requirement.

Thanks for the reminder about the work search! I've been applying to jobs every day so I've definitely got more than 3 activities, but I need to make sure I'm logging them correctly in the system.

The TWC system is THE WORST when it comes to explaining payment timing!!! I was in exactly your situation last month and nearly had a panic attack waiting for my money. If your payment status says

That's reassuring to hear! So it sounds like this delay is just for the first payment and I shouldn't worry. And yes, I've been keeping up with my work search activities every week!

my payment comes at exactly the same time every two weeks now, like clockwork! bank of america at 4am on thursdays lol. first one took longer tho

Thanks! Looking forward to that kind of reliability. I'll keep an eye out for it tomorrow morning then!

UPDATE: The money just hit my account this morning (Thursday)! So it took exactly 3 business days after processing. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!

Great news! Glad it came through as expected. Now you know the timeline for future payments. Remember that your next payment request should be submitted on the date specified in your TWC account (usually every two weeks on the same day you initially filed).
