When will ny unemployment actually send payment after approval letter?
I got approved for unemployment benefits last week after waiting almost 2 months. The determination letter says I'll be getting $465 per week, and my online account shows 'approved.' But it's been 8 days and still nothing in my bank account. My rent is due in 3 days and I'm getting really nervous. The website just says 'payment pending' but doesn't give any timeline. Called the unemployment office 14 times yesterday and couldn't get through to anyone. Has anyone recently been approved and know how long it actually takes for the money to hit your account? I keep hearing different things from different people.

Mine came through exactly 10 days after I got the approval letter. The system is super backed up right now so everything is taking longer than usual. hang in there!

Thanks for the info! Did you get all the back pay at once or just the weekly amount?

Got all the backpay in one big deposit! It was like Christmas morning lol. Hoping you get yours before rent is due!

I was in the same situation last month and was pulling my hair out waiting. Found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that connected me with an actual human at unemployment. Best money I ever spent because talking to an agent got my payments released within 2 days. Check out this video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Yeah it actually works. I was skeptical too but I was desperate after not getting through on the phone for 3 weeks. They connect you with a real agent from unemployment. Changed everything for me.

I used it two weeks ago when my claim was stuck in pending hell. Got through to someone who fixed my issue in 10 minutes. claimyr.com saved me weeks of frustration

I waited almost 3 weeks after approval before mine came through. The NY unemployment system is COMPLETELY overwhelmed. If you really need money before your payment hits, try calling and explain your situation with rent coming due. Sometimes they can expedite.

check ur payment history on the website. sometimes it shows as pending there but actually gets deposited. also double check the bank info u entered is correct. my friend waited 4 weeks only to realize he had entered his routing number wrong 🤦♂️

Just checked and the payment history still shows nothing. Triple checked my banking info and it's correct. Ugh, this is so frustrating!

Mine took exactly TWO WEEKS after approval letter to hit my account. The frustrating part is there's no way to know where in the process you are. Just keep certifying each week while you wait. The good news is that when it finally comes through, you'll get all the back weeks at once.

They're telling EVERYONE to wait 2-3 weeks these days. It's their standard line even though it might take longer or shorter. The system is completely overloaded. When I finally got thru on the phone after using claimyr.com, the agent told me they're dealing with 5x normal volume.

What's claimyr.com? Another scam or something legit? Never heard of it.

Not a scam at all. It's a service that calls unemployment for you and stays on hold, then rings your phone when a real person picks up. Saved me hours of hold time. claimyr.com

Look im gonna be real with you. The timeline they give is complete BS. I got my approval letter in April and didnt see a penny until June. The backpay was nice but I nearly lost my apartment waiting. I recommend trying to get a human on the phone ASAP to check if there are any holds on your account.

I'm a former unemployment office worker in NY (quit last year because the system is a nightmare). Here's what's actually happening with your claim: After approval, your claim enters the payment processing queue. While the website says this takes 2-3 business days, the reality is currently closer to 7-10 days due to volume. If you have direct deposit, it's faster than debit card payments. Common reasons for delays include: - Identity verification flags (even after approval) - Bank account information errors - Random system audits (yes, really) - Certification issues The FASTEST way to resolve is speaking directly with a claims specialist who can see the exact status of your payment and potentially release it manually. Regular call center staff often can't help with this. If you're desperate to get through, I've heard good things about claimyr.com from former colleagues. They use technology to navigate the phone system and get you directly to an agent. Hope this helps - the system is broken, but your money WILL come eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! This makes a lot more sense than what I've been reading on the official site. I'll try to get through to someone tomorrow.

Can confirm this is accurate. I worked at the call center until 2022 and everything above is spot on. The internal system is ancient and breaks constantly.

If it says approved, you'll definitely get the money. I waited 12 days, but my sister only waited 5. There's no rhyme or reason to the timing. The good thing is they DO pay all the back weeks you're owed.

This happened to me! Try logging in from a different device. For some reason my payments weren't showing on my phone but when I checked from my laptop I could see they were actually scheduled. The NY unemployment website is hot garbage.

Same situation just last month. Waited 13 days after approval then suddenly BOOM - $3700 in my account (all my backpay). No notification, no warning, just appeared. The system is completely random.

have u tried the unemployment sub-menu option when u call? press 2 then 1 then 3 then 2 the 4 then wait exactly 10 seconds and press 1 again. sometimes that gets u to a different department that can help with payment issues specifically

Tried this route today and still got disconnected after 45 minutes on hold 😡

There is ZERO consistency with NY unemployment payments right now. My roommate got his 4 days after approval. I waited 17 days. Both of us certified properly. It's just luck of the draw with their ancient computer system.

talk to your landlord NOW and explain the situation. most will work with u if u show them the approval letter. better to be upfront than wait till rent is due and u still dont have the $$
