TWC claim stuck in limbo after employer responded - no updates for weeks
I filed my unemployment claim on May 13th and got confirmation that my employer responded to TWC's inquiry. It's been almost 3 weeks now and I haven't heard ANYTHING from TWC except automated messages saying "continue to request payment and complete work search activities." No determination letter, no approval/denial, nothing about my benefit amount... just silence. I've been dutifully requesting payment every two weeks and logging my 3+ job searches, but my account still shows "pending." Is this normal?? How long should I expect to wait before I get some kind of actual update? I'm seriously worried about paying rent next month if this keeps dragging on. Has anyone experienced similar delays recently?

•5 weeks?! That's crazy! Did you do anything special to finally get a response, or just wait it out?

•I've tried calling about 20 times! Either get a busy signal or it says the queue is full and disconnects me 😫

This is actually pretty standard with TWC right now. They're experiencing significant delays in processing claims even after employer responses are received. The system telling you to continue requesting payments and doing work searches is a good sign - it means your claim is still active in their system. A few things to help while you wait: 1. Double-check your Correspondence Inbox on the TWC portal to make sure you haven't missed any notices requiring additional information 2. Even though it feels pointless, continue submitting your payment requests and work search logs exactly on schedule 3. If you receive a determination letter, respond immediately if any appeal is needed 4. Be aware that when approved, you'll receive back payments for all eligible weeks you've properly requested payment for The current processing time seems to be 3-5 weeks from employer response to determination, but can be longer depending on claim complexity or verification needs.

•Thank you for the detailed response! I've been checking my correspondence inbox obsessively and there's nothing there requesting additional info. I'll keep doing the payment requests and work searches. Do you think there's any value in trying to contact them, or is it better to just wait it out at this point?

The TWC ALWAYS does this!!! They take FOREVER to process claims even after they have everything they need. It's completely ridiculous. They expect us to search for jobs and request payments on schedule but can't be bothered to process our claims in a reasonable timeframe. I waited SIX WEEKS after my employer responded before getting any determination. The whole system is designed to make people give up. Keep calling, keep trying, and document EVERYTHING.

•Preach! 👏 I swear they hope people just get tired of waiting and give up.

I had this exact situation last month. After weeks of trying to call with no luck, I used Claimyr.com to get through to a TWC agent. It connected me within about 30 minutes when I had been trying for weeks on my own. The agent told me my claim was just sitting in their backlog and they expedited it after our call. Got my determination letter 3 days later. You can check out how it works in this video: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Definitely worth it since waiting can sometimes mean your claim just sits there for no reason.

•I'm getting desperate enough to try anything. Did they tell you why your claim was just sitting there? Was there an actual issue or literally just backlog?

•Literally just backlog. The agent actually apologized and said many claims that don't have obvious issues end up waiting longer because they prioritize claims with clear problems. Makes no sense, but once a human looked at mine, it moved right away.

Hey, I work as an employment counselor and see this situation constantly. Here's what's likely happening: TWC has your application and your employer's response, but they're comparing the information for any discrepancies. If there are none, it should be a straightforward approval, but they're severely backlogged (again). If there are discrepancies, they may need to investigate further. I would definitely recommend trying to reach a live agent. While the "continue requesting payment" message is standard, having a human check your specific claim can sometimes identify if there's a hold that needs to be removed or information that's missing. Sometimes claims get stuck in digital limbo for no good reason. Also - very important - make absolutely sure you're completing your payment requests properly. A single missed request can complicate things significantly. And keep detailed records of all your work searches with contact information. If they question anything later, you'll need this documentation.

My sister waited 2 months for her determination letter and then got approved with backpay. Meanwhile I got mine in 10 days last year. I think it totally depends on who processes ur claim and how busy they are that week. It's so random!

has anyone checked if theres a way to see if ur claim has issues? mine was stuck for weeks and later found out they needed wage verification that they never asked for!!

•Yes, you can sometimes see this information by logging into your TWC account and checking the claim status section. Look for any items marked "pending" or "needs attention." However, the system isn't always clear about what's causing delays. That's why speaking with an agent directly is often the only way to get clarity on specific issues with your claim.

Update: Finally got through to TWC! Apparently my claim was flagged for "additional review" because I had worked for my last employer for less than 6 months. The agent said this is routine but they're behind on processing these reviews. She put a note on my account to expedite it. Thanks everyone for your advice - especially about being persistent with calling. Will update when I get my determination letter!

•I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above. Felt silly paying to get through but after 3+ weeks of trying on my own, it was worth it. Got connected to a TWC agent in about 20 minutes.
