TWC Payment Date shows May 30th but no eligibility letter - will I actually get paid?
So I filed my unemployment claim about 2 weeks ago after getting laid off from the warehouse I've been at for 3 years. On my TWC account, it's showing a payment date of May 30th, but I'm confused because I never received any letter saying I was eligible for benefits? The only letter I got was confirming my ID.me verification on 5/22. Does the payment date mean I'm approved? Or could they still deny me even with a payment date showing? I've been checking my mailbox daily and nothing from TWC except that ID verification letter. I really need this money for rent and I'm stressed about getting my hopes up if that payment isn't actually coming. Anyone else had a payment date show up before getting their eligibility letter?

If you have a payment date showing in your TWC account, that's usually a good sign! I went through this same exact thing back in January. The online system updates faster than their physical mail system. I had a payment date showing for about a week before I actually got my eligibility letter in the mail. TWC is seriously behind on sending out their paperwork, but they're better about getting the money out on time. Check your bank account on the 30th - you'll probably see the deposit before you ever get that eligibility letter lol.

•That's such a relief to hear! I've been checking my account every hour like a crazy person. Did your payment actually come through on the exact date it showed online?

The payment date is a very strong indicator that your claim has been approved, but there's still a small chance something could flag your account before the actual payment is released. Have you completed your first payment request yet? And have you been documenting your work search activities? You need at least 3 per week in Texas. The system sometimes assigns payment dates based on the normal processing schedule, but if there's any issue with your payment request or work search, they can still hold the funds.

•Yes, I did my first payment request on Monday and logged 4 work search activities for each week. So hopefully I'm good on that front! Do you know if there's any way to check if my claim has actually been approved besides waiting for that letter?

HOLD UP - don't get your hopes up just yet. I had a payment date show up in my portal too, but then I got a letter two days AFTER that date saying I was DENIED benefits because of the way my employment ended. The TWC system is COMPLETELY broken - they show payment dates that mean NOTHING. Then you're sitting there checking your bank account every hour just to find out they already decided you're not getting anything!! Been fighting with them for 6 weeks now and still haven't seen a dime. You should start calling them NOW to confirm if you're actually approved.

•Omg that's exactly what I'm afraid of! I've been calling the TWC number for days but can't get through. It just says all agents are busy and hangs up. Did you find any way to actually talk to someone?

Since you already completed your ID.me verification and you're seeing a payment date, you're likely approved. The eligibility determination letter often arrives after the first payment in Texas. Here's what you should know: 1. Payment dates typically mean your claim has been processed and approved 2. Direct deposit usually arrives on the payment date or the next business day 3. If you chose the debit card option, it might take 1-3 additional business days 4. You can check your claim status by calling TWC Tele-Serv at 800-558-8321 Keep documenting your work search activities (minimum 3 per week) and make your payment requests on time. Your eligibility letter will eventually arrive, but the money usually comes first.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I've been trying the Tele-Serv number but it won't give me any info besides what I already see online. I did select direct deposit, so fingers crossed it shows up on the 30th.

I have been in this EXACT situation. The TWC website looks like it was built in 1995 and never updated. The payment date appears before they send out ANY letters. I got my money literally 3 weeks before I ever got the official eligibility letter. The system is completely backward but at least they pay on time! Check your bank account on the 30th - it'll probably be there.

•That's so weird! You'd think they'd tell you you're approved before showing payment dates. But I'm relieved to hear you got your money. Did they backdate your payments too?

When I went through this last month, I tried calling TWC for DAYS with no luck - just constant busy signals and disconnections. I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a TWC agent within 20 minutes. Totally worth it because the agent confirmed my payment was approved even though I hadn't received any letter. They even have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. Saved me a week of anxiety wondering if I'd actually get paid.

Congrats on getting your payment! This is exactly why I always tell people not to stress too much about those eligibility letters - the TWC system is just backwards but it usually works out. For anyone else reading this thread who's in the same boat, the key things to remember are: 1) Keep doing your payment requests on time, 2) Document those work searches religiously, and 3) If you see a payment date in your account, it's almost always legit. The letters will eventually catch up but the money comes first. Hope this helps other folks who are going through the same anxiety!

•This is so helpful! I'm new to unemployment and was freaking out about the same thing - seeing a payment date but no official letter. It's crazy how backwards their system is but at least now I know what to expect. Thanks for breaking it down so clearly for people like me who are navigating this for the first time!

This thread is so reassuring! I'm going through the exact same thing right now - filed 3 weeks ago, have a payment date showing for June 6th, but still haven't gotten any eligibility letter. Been losing sleep over whether I'll actually get paid or if it's just a glitch in their system. Reading everyone's experiences here makes me feel so much better. The TWC system really is confusing - you'd think they'd send confirmation BEFORE showing payment dates, but apparently that's just how they operate. Going to stop obsessively checking my mailbox every day and just wait for the deposit. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories!

•I'm in the exact same boat as you! Just filed my claim last week and seeing all these stories is giving me so much hope. It's wild that TWC operates like this - showing payment dates before any official confirmation - but it seems like that's just their weird process. I've been checking my account obsessively too but I'm going to try to relax now that I know this is normal. Fingers crossed for both of us that our payments come through on schedule! This community has been such a lifesaver for understanding how this whole system actually works.

I went through this exact same anxiety when I first filed! The TWC system is honestly backwards - they'll show payment dates way before any official paperwork arrives. I had a payment date showing for almost 10 days before I got my eligibility letter, and the money hit my account right on schedule. The key thing is that you've already done your ID.me verification and completed your payment request with work search documentation. Those are the main hurdles. Their mail system is incredibly slow but their payment processing is usually reliable. I know it's nerve-wracking waiting, but based on everyone's experiences here (and my own), you should be good to go. Just keep doing your weekly payment requests and documenting those job searches. The peace of mind will come when you see that deposit hit your account!

•This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm about a week behind you in the process - just filed my claim and I'm already seeing that dreaded "payment date" with no letter situation. It's so reassuring to know that this backwards system is actually normal and not some kind of error. I've been driving myself crazy wondering if I did something wrong or if my claim got flagged somehow. Your point about the ID.me verification and work search documentation being the main hurdles makes total sense. I guess I just need to trust the process even though it feels completely illogical. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience - it really helps newcomers like me understand what to expect!

I'm dealing with this exact situation right now too! Filed my claim about 10 days ago and have been stressing about the same thing - payment date showing but no eligibility letter yet. Reading through all these comments has been such a huge relief. It's crazy how TWC's system works completely backwards from what you'd expect, but it sounds like this is totally normal. I've been calling the TWC line every day with no luck getting through, so hearing that the payment date is usually reliable is exactly what I needed to know. Going to stop panicking and just wait for my deposit date. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - this community is invaluable for understanding how this confusing system actually works in practice!
