ID.me verification approved but TWC claim still showing unapproved - how long to wait?
I'm confused and getting worried about my unemployment benefits. I applied about 2 weeks ago and got an initial approval. Then yesterday I got an email saying my claim was 'unapproved' because I need to verify my identity. I immediately did the ID.me verification process with the selfie and driver's license and got the confirmation email from ID.me saying I was verified. But my TWC account still shows 'unapproved' status and mentions identity verification needed. How long does it typically take for TWC to recognize the ID.me verification? Should I be doing something else to nudge this along? My savings are getting really low and I'm starting to panic a bit about paying rent next month.

it took like 5 days for mine to update after I did the id.me thing. the systems don't talk to each other right away sometimes

•Thanks for letting me know! 5 days isn't too bad. Did you keep requesting payments during that time or did you wait until it updated?

The TWC system doesn't instantly sync with ID.me - there's usually a 3-7 business day delay. Make sure you completed ALL parts of the ID.me verification (sometimes people miss the final step where you have to authorize sharing your info with TWC specifically). Also, continue requesting your payment on your scheduled day even if the system still shows as pending verification. The payments will process retroactively once verification clears.

•Oh! I'm not sure if I did that last authorization step. I got the email saying I was verified but maybe I missed something. I'll log back into ID.me and check. Thanks for the tip about continuing payment requests regardless.

•TWC is ALWAYS slow with everything! Their computer systems are from the stone age I swear. When I had to do ID.me last year, I called about 50 times before finally getting through to confirm they received it. Classic government efficiency 🙄

I went through this exact situation in January. The verification process is definitely confusing! After completing ID.me, you need to make sure you authorized TWC specifically to receive your verification. Login to ID.me, go to your account settings, and check under "My Authorized Partners" to see if Texas Workforce Commission is listed there. If not, you'll need to complete that step. Even after everything is done correctly, TWC takes 3-10 business days to update their system. Unfortunately, their systems don't communicate in real-time. If it's been more than 10 business days, you should definitely try calling them, though getting through is a nightmare. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a TWC representative after wasting days trying to call myself. They have a system that gets you in the call queue without you having to redial hundreds of times. Saved me so much frustration - you can see how it works at https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. The rep was able to confirm my ID.me verification had been received but was still in their processing queue.

•This is super helpful, thank you! I just checked my ID.me account and I DO see Texas Workforce Commission listed under authorized partners, so I did complete that step correctly. I guess I just need to be patient for a few more days. If it goes beyond 10 business days I'll definitely check out that Claimyr service because calling TWC has been impossible.

My cousins sister had this problem and it took 3 months to resolve!!!! The TWC is so backed up they dont care about us.

•That's not typical at all. Most ID.me verifications are processed within 3-10 business days. If it took 3 months, there was likely another issue with the claim besides just identity verification - possibly an employer dispute, earnings discrepancy, or work search compliance issue. These are completely different from the initial ID.me verification process.

A few important points about ID.me verification with TWC that might help you and others: 1. The verification process has THREE parts: completing ID.me verification, authorizing TWC access to your verification, and TWC processing that verification (3-10 business days). 2. You MUST continue requesting payments on your scheduled day during this time, even with the claim showing as "unapproved." This ensures you don't miss any benefits once verification is complete. 3. If TWC requested verification through your correspondence inbox (not just the automatic ID.me process everyone does), make sure you've responded to that specific request. 4. After 10 business days, if your claim still shows as needing verification, I recommend calling TWC directly. Request a "claim status update" specifically regarding your ID.me verification. 5. The TWC online status doesn't always update immediately even after their system has processed your verification. Sometimes the payment will be released before the online status changes. Hope this helps! The verification process has improved dramatically since 2021, but it can still be confusing.

•This is really detailed information, thank you! I'm going to check my correspondence inbox right now to make sure I didn't miss anything there. My payment request day is this Friday, so I'll definitely go ahead and do that regardless of the status. Really appreciate all the help from everyone here.

anybody know if you have to do the id.me thing every time you request payment or just once at the beginning???

•ID.me verification is only required once at the beginning of your claim. Once your identity is verified, you won't need to do it again for the same claim. However, if you start a new claim in the future (after this benefit year ends), you might need to verify again.

The whole ID.me system is a JOKE! I got verified but TWC still flagged my account for "identity issues" THREE TIMES during my claim period. Each time I had to wait 3+ weeks for them to fix it while my bills piled up. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing over there. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Screenshot your ID.me confirmation and save all emails - you'll need them when TWC inevitably screws something up again.

•While the system isn't perfect, most people only need to complete ID.me verification once. If you were flagged multiple times, it might have been related to other issues like an IP address change, accessing from a new device, or potential claim discrepancies. But yes, keeping documentation of everything is excellent advice for any government interaction!

Update: My claim status just changed to approved! It took exactly 8 days from when I completed the ID.me verification. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance that I just needed to be patient. I'm going to request my payment tomorrow as scheduled.

•Great news! Glad it resolved within the typical timeframe. Make sure you maintain your work search activities (minimum 3 per week) and document them carefully. Even during the verification waiting period, you're still required to meet all work search requirements.
