TWC ID.me verification confusion - did I do it right or am I missing steps?
I just completed what I think is the ID.me verification for my TWC unemployment claim, but I'm not sure if I did it correctly. All I did was create an account on ID.me and verify my email address. The system didn't ask me to upload my driver's license or do a video selfie or anything like that, which seems weird based on what I've read online. Has anyone gone through this recently? Am I missing steps that will delay my claim? My benefits are on hold until this verification is complete, and I'm getting really worried about making rent next month. Thanks for any help!

you definitely missed steps. id.me requires photo id + selfie verification at minimum. sounds like you just created the account but didnt finish the identity verification part which is what TWC actually needs

•Oh no! I was afraid of that. How do I get back to finish the verification process? Do I need to start over?

The ID.me verification for TWC has multiple steps that you need to complete. Just creating an account is only the first part. You also need to: 1. Upload a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) 2. Take a video selfie for facial recognition matching 3. Verify your phone number 4. Possibly answer identity verification questions After completing all steps, you should get a confirmation message that your identity has been verified. Then you need to go back to your TWC portal and make sure the systems are connected correctly. If you don't complete all steps, your claim will remain on hold.

•Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I'll log back in right now and look for those additional verification steps. I was wondering why it seemed too easy!

I had the EXACT same issue last month! I thought I was done after creating the account but my payments were still on hold. You need to log back into ID.me and look for something like "verify your identity" or "complete verification" - it's not super obvious in their interface. Once I finished ALL the steps, my TWC claim was processed within about 3 days.

•This is so helpful to hear! Did you have any trouble with the facial recognition part? I've heard some people get stuck at that stage.

YES THIS HAPPENS TO EVERYONE!!! id.me is the WORST system ever! they make it confusing on purpose i swear. when i did mine the facial recognition failed 3 times and i had to do a video call with someone which took FOREVER to schedule. then even after all that my twc account still showed as needing verification for another week! the whole system is broken!!!

•Oh that sounds terrible! I really hope I don't have to do the video call. I'm already so stressed about getting this fixed quickly.

To log back in and complete your ID.me verification: 1. Go to ID.me and sign in with the account you created 2. Look for "Verify your identity" or similar option in your account dashboard 3. Select the reason as "To access unemployment insurance" 4. Choose Texas Workforce Commission when prompted 5. Follow the steps to upload your ID and complete the facial recognition If the facial recognition fails, don't panic. You'll be offered a video chat option with a "Trusted Referee" who can verify you manually. It might take longer but they're available 24/7. Once completed, your TWC account should update within 48-72 hours to show verification is complete. If it doesn't, you'll need to contact TWC directly to check on your claim status.

•Thank you for these specific steps! This makes it much clearer. I'll follow these instructions exactly and hopefully avoid any further delays.

I went through this whole ID.me nightmare last month. Created the account, thought I was done, then realized I needed to do the rest of the steps! Tried calling TWC for days with no luck - busy signals or disconnects every time. Ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual TWC agent who confirmed my ID.me verification wasn't complete and walked me through the rest of the process. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P88?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Saved me weeks of waiting and confusion. The agent explained exactly what was missing in my verification and my benefits started processing right after I completed the full ID.me steps.

I had to do my ID.me verification about 2 months ago and there were definitely multiple steps involved. After creating your account, you need to specifically go through the identity verification process which is different. Don't worry though! Just log back in and look for the verification steps. Have your driver's license or passport ready, and be prepared to take a selfie with your phone or computer camera. The whole process took me about 15 minutes once I found the right section. One tip: make sure you're using a device with a good camera for the facial recognition part. I tried on my old phone first and it kept failing, but worked fine on my laptop.

•Great tip about using a device with a good camera. I'll use my newer phone instead of my laptop with the bad webcam. Thanks!

Just wanted to follow up - were you able to complete the full ID.me verification? If you're still having issues, remember that you can also check your claim status on the TWC Tele-Serv system at 800-558-8321. Sometimes the phone system will give you more specific information about what's holding up your claim than the website does.

•Yes! I finally got it all done yesterday. You were all right - there were multiple verification steps I needed to complete. The facial recognition worked on the second try, and my TWC account now shows that my identity has been verified. Such a relief! Thank you all for your help!
