TWC asking for ID verification again after it was already approved - benefits needed for car note

I'm totally confused about my unemployment situation right now. I submitted my initial claim about 3 weeks ago and got a message to verify my identity through ID.me. I did that immediately and got confirmation it was successful. The ID.me dashboard shows my verification as complete and linked to TWC. But when I log into my TWC account to request payment, there's still no benefits showing up in my account and my claim status shows 'pending.' I haven't received any denial letter or anything saying there's a problem. I really need these benefits ASAP because my car payment is due next week and I depend on my vehicle to get to interviews. Has anyone else had their ID verified but still not received benefits? Do I need to call TWC? I've tried calling several times but can't get through.

This happens more often than you'd think. Even though ID.me shows verification complete, sometimes TWC's system doesn't update automatically. Your best bet is to speak directly with a TWC agent. Unfortunately, there's usually 3 things that could be causing the delay: 1) Your ID verification hasn't properly synced with the TWC system yet, 2) There's another issue with your claim that's unrelated to identity verification, or 3) They need additional information but haven't sent the correspondence yet. Don't panic though - most claims with this issue get resolved within a week of speaking with an agent.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how long it usually takes for the ID verification to sync with TWC? It's been almost 2 weeks since I completed it. I'm getting really anxious about missing my car payment.

OMG the EXACT same thing happened to me!! I verified my ID like 3 times and STILL had to wait forever. Finally got my benefits but took FIVE WEEKS. TWC is THE WORST. They never answer phones, website is trash, and half the agents give wrong info. Good luck getting your car payment in time - had to borrow $ from my sister when this happened to me.

Five weeks?? I can't wait that long! Did you do anything specific that finally got it resolved, or did it just eventually process on its own?

While waiting for TWC to approve your claim after ID verification, I'd recommend these steps: 1. Keep requesting payment on your regular request day, even if it seems nothing is happening 2. Check your correspondence inbox daily for any updates or requests for additional information 3. Continue documenting your work search activities (minimum 3 per week) 4. Try calling TWC at their less busy times - early morning (7:00-7:30am) or late afternoon (4:30-5:00pm) Also, regarding your car payment - contact your auto lender immediately and explain your situation. Many lenders have hardship programs that can defer payments for 30-60 days while you're waiting for unemployment benefits to start. It's better to be proactive than to miss a payment.

This is really helpful advice, especially about contacting my lender. I'll try that tomorrow. I've been religiously doing my work searches but wasn't sure about requesting payment when nothing seemed to be happening. I'll keep doing that too.

i had sim problem last mnth. try checkin ur correspondence inbox for any messages bout separtion issue. somtimes they need more info from ur employer about why u left. that can hold things up even if id.me is done. might not be id issue at all

I didn't even think about that. I'll check my correspondence again to see if there's anything about separation issues. I was laid off due to budget cuts, so I didn't think there would be any questions about that.

I found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to TWC when I had a similar issue with my benefits being held up after ID verification. It got me connected to an actual TWC agent within about 20 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. The agent was able to see that my ID verification was complete but there was another flag on my account they needed to clear. Website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh - definitely worth checking out when you're in a time crunch for that car payment.

The REAL problem is TWC is STILL using ancient computer systems from the 1990s!!! They spend millions on "upgrades" but nothing ever improves. My cousin works for the state (not TWC) and says their whole system is held together with duct tape and prayers. NO WONDER your ID verification isn't syncing properly. They probably have some poor data entry person manually checking ID.me results against a spreadsheet or something equally ridiculous!

This actually explains a lot about my experience with them too. Everything seems so disconnected between departments.

Just want to say I sympathize with your car payment stress. When I was waiting for benefits I called my credit union and they let me skip a payment and add it to the end of my loan. Worth asking about!

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm with Capital One Auto Finance - not sure if they offer something similar but I'll definitely call them tomorrow.

I tried that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier and it actually worked great. Got through to TWC in about 15 minutes when I'd been trying for days. The agent told me there was a "work verification" flag on my account that had nothing to do with my ID.me stuff. They fixed it right there on the phone and my benefits started processing the next day.

That's good to know. If I can't get through on my own tomorrow morning, I'll definitely look into it. At this point, I'm willing to try anything to get this resolved before my car payment is due.

Just a quick update on your timeline expectations: According to the TWC website, the current average processing time for claims (even after ID verification) is 21-28 days. If you're only at week 3, you're still within their normal timeframe. However, if there's an additional issue as some have suggested, calling is definitely your best option to identify and resolve it. The automated system (Tele-Serv at 800-558-8321) can sometimes give you basic status info if you can't reach a live person.

21-28 days is so long! But it helps to know this is somewhat normal. I'll try the Tele-Serv number too - hadn't thought of using that for status updates.

Good news - I checked with a friend who works at TWC, and they confirmed that once your identity is verified through ID.me, your claim should start processing within 7-10 business days unless there's another issue. Since you're past that window, it's almost certain there's something else holding up your claim. The most common secondary issues are: 1. Employer response discrepancy (they reported a different reason for separation) 2. Wage verification issue (if your reported wages don't match their records) 3. Work search compliance questions 4. Prior overpayment from a previous claim Only a TWC agent can tell you which of these might be affecting your claim.

This is really helpful information. I think it must be something with the employer response because my former employer has been restructuring and their HR department is a mess right now. I'll definitely need to speak with a TWC agent to sort this out.

UPDATE: I finally got through to TWC this morning after trying for 2 hours! The agent checked my claim and said my identity verification was fine, but my former employer hadn't responded to their inquiry about my separation reason. She said they'll make a determination on my claim by next Friday even if my employer doesn't respond. She also mentioned I can request a payment advance if I'm facing financial hardship while waiting. Going to look into that option for my car payment. Thanks everyone for all your advice!
