TWC ID verification email after claim amount disappeared - got call from agent too?

I'm super confused about what's happening with my unemployment claim right now. So I filed my initial claim over the phone last week (the website kept giving me errors). Everything seemed fine - I could see my benefit amount online yesterday. But today I checked and ALL my payment information is completely gone from my account! Then about an hour ago, I got an email saying I need to verify my identity and use some access code, but there's nothing in my correspondence inbox yet. On top of all that, some lady from TWC actually called me today but I missed it because I was at a job interview. I'm freaking out because I thought everything was approved. Does the disappearing payment amount mean my claim is denied? Why would they call me? And how long does this ID verification access code usually take to show up? I really need these benefits to start soon.

sounds like id theft flags maybe. my cousin had something similar happen last month

Oh no... do you think someone is trying to steal my identity? Or is it just TWC thinking someone else is pretending to be me?

This is a pretty standard ID verification issue. When your payment amount disappears, it usually means there's a hold on your claim while they resolve something - in this case, they need to verify your identity. The access code should appear in your correspondence inbox within 24-48 hours. The TWC agent was likely calling to inform you about this verification requirement. Don't panic! This is happening to many people right now as TWC has increased their identity verification measures. Just keep checking your correspondence inbox for that access code, then complete the ID.me verification as soon as you get it. Your claim isn't denied, it's just temporarily on hold.

Thank you so much! That makes me feel better. Should I try calling them back with the number they called from? Or just wait for the access code?

CLASSIC TWC NONSENSE! They do this ALL THE TIME!! They approve everything, then suddenly decide they need MORE verification after the fact. Then they hold your money hostage until you jump through their hoops. I had to wait THREE WEEKS after my ID verification before they released my payments. The system is BROKEN!!! And good luck trying to call them - you'll be on hold until your grandkids graduate college.

I went through this exact same situation in March. Here's what's happening: TWC has automatic fraud detection systems that sometimes flag claims after initial approval. When they called you, they were trying to let you know about the ID verification requirement. Here's what you need to do: 1. Wait for the access code (usually arrives within 24-48 hours) 2. Complete the ID.me verification process exactly as instructed 3. After verification, it typically takes 3-5 business days for your claim to be reinstated The good news is that you won't lose any money - once verified, they'll pay you for all weeks you were eligible, including any backpay from this delay. Just make sure to keep submitting your payment requests on your regular scheduled days.

This is so helpful, thank you! Will the access code come through email or only in the correspondence box on the TWC site? I'm checking it obsessively.

When I had to do ID.me verification in January, I waited 3 days for the access code and it never showed up. I was pulling my hair out trying to reach someone at TWC. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 20 minutes. The agent was able to send the access code while I was on the phone and I finished my verification that same day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Might be worth it if you're in a hurry to get your benefits started. The disappearing payment info is definitely just a temporary hold.

I've never heard of Claimyr before. Does it really work? I'm desperate to talk to someone at TWC about my case.

Yes, it worked great for me! I was skeptical at first but after trying for days to reach TWC myself, I was willing to try anything. It basically keeps dialing for you so you don't have to sit there redialing constantly. The agent I spoke with was super helpful and fixed my access code issue right away.

I used it too last month when my payment request got stuck in pending for 3 weeks. Got through to TWC in like 30 min when I'd been trying for days with no luck. Agent fixed my issue while I was on the phone.

Hey so actually i went thru this same thing back in Feb!!! it's totally normal (well not normal but common lol). The missing payment info scared me too but it came back after I did the id.me thing. Make sure u have ur drivers license and ssn card ready for the verification. Also sometimes the video chat part gets stuck so if that happens just close the browser and start over. I had to do it twice before it worked. Also the lady probably called to tell u about the ID verification thing, they did that to me to.

Oh thank you! Did you have to wait long after completing the ID.me verification before your payments started coming through?

For me it was like 4 or 5 days after I finished the ID.me thing. But my brother said his took almost 2 weeks so I think it depends. Just keep requesting payment on your regular days even while it's being processed.

This is correct. Continue requesting payments on your scheduled days even while the verification is in process. Once verification is complete, you'll receive all eligible payments, including any that were held during this period.

One time I was in a different state visiting family and tried to log in to TWC and suddenly got flagged for identity verification... I think sometimes even small things can trigger their security system. Definitely not necessarily fraud like someone suggested. Just a precaution.

yep happened to my brother when he used his girlfriends computer to check his claim

UPDATE: The access code showed up this morning (took about 30 hours). I completed the ID.me verification and it wasn't too bad! Had to upload my driver's license and do a video selfie thing. Now just waiting for TWC to process it and hopefully restore my claim. Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance!

Great news! Now just keep an eye on your claim status. It should update within 3-7 business days. Make sure you continue requesting payments on your regular scheduled days, even while waiting for the verification to process.
