TWC payment email received but still no direct deposit - normal wait time?

I finally got that TWC email saying 'payments have been processed and released' yesterday morning, but still nothing in my bank account. This is my first time on unemployment and I'm getting kinda anxious because rent is due Friday. For those who've been through this before - how long did it take for the money to actually hit your account after getting that email? Is there a standard timeline I should expect? My payment request was approved on Monday if that matters.

usually takes 2-3 business days after the email. banks process differently tho. dont panic yet lol

Thanks! That helps calm my nerves a bit. I'll give it until tomorrow before I start worrying.

It depends on your bank, but typically 2-3 business days is normal. Remember that TWC processes payments in batches, and the email gets sent when your payment enters that batch process. Your bank's processing time is the variable here. If you have a major bank, it's usually faster (1-2 days) than credit unions or smaller banks (2-4 days). If you don't see it by the 3rd business day after the email, then you might want to check if there's an issue.

I'm with Chase, so hopefully that means faster processing. I'll keep an eye out. This whole system is so nerve-wracking when you're depending on it!

OK SO this happened to me last month and I FREAKED OUT but turns out i put in wrong routing number when i first applied!!! Check your banking info on the TWC portal ASAP to make sure its correct. I had to go through hell getting it fixed and it delayed my payment by 2 weeks. The TWC payment release email doesnt mean the deposit will work if your info is wrong!!!!

Oh wow, I didn't even think about that! Just checked and my banking info is correct, thankfully. Sorry you had to deal with that mess.

I've been on UI twice in Texas, and my experience has been that the payment typically arrives 2-3 business days after receiving that email. If you're concerned about the timing, you might want to check your payment status on the TWC portal under "Claim and Payment Status" to confirm it shows as "processed" rather than "pending." If you're still not seeing the deposit by Friday and need to reach TWC urgently, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation last year and couldn't get through on the phone for days. Claimyr got me connected to a TWC agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh

It does show as "processed" on the portal, so that's good. If I don't see anything by Friday morning I'll definitely check out that Claimyr service. Spending hours hitting redial on the TWC number is the last thing I need right now.

my neighbor told me sometimes it takes up to 5 days even with the email. something about ACH transfers and weekends not counting as business days. hang in there!

ANOTHER THING! First payments sometimes take longer than regular ones. My first one took 4 days but now they come in 2 days like clockwork. Don't stress unless it goes past Friday!

That's a relief to hear! This is my first payment so maybe that's part of the delay. I'll try to be patient.

The TWC system is so inconsistent, I swear. One month it's 2 days, next month it's 4 days. Last month they sent me the email AFTER the money was already in my account! Makes no sense. But yeah, give it at least 3 business days before you start calling them.

This is accurate. The payment processing system at TWC isn't always synchronized with their notification system. What matters most is the status in your TWC account portal showing as "processed." If your banking information is correct and the payment shows as processed, you should receive it within 2-3 business days in most cases. The first payment often takes slightly longer as the system establishes the payment pathway to your specific bank.

UPDATE: The money just landed in my account this morning! So that was about 48 hours after the email. Thanks everyone for your help and keeping me from panicking!

So glad to hear it came through! That 48-hour timeline is pretty typical for Chase. Thanks for updating us - it's really helpful for other folks who might be in the same boat and stressing about their first payment.

Great to see it worked out for you! This is exactly why I always tell people not to panic until at least day 3. The TWC system can be stressful when you're new to it, but once you go through it a few times you get used to the timing. For future reference, if you ever need to contact TWC and can't get through on the phone, that Claimyr service someone mentioned is legit - saved me hours of frustration when I had an issue with my claim status last year.
