TWC account disabled for suspected fraud - What to do?
Has anyone else had their unemployment account disabled for fraud? I just logged in and saw that my account was disabled due to suspected fraud. I haven't done anything wrong and I'm freaking out. I need to get this fixed ASAP because I rely on these benefits. Does anyone know what I should do or what to expect when I call them?

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

•I know it sounds weird, but I swear it's legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•It seems like a steep price, but if it saves you significant time and stress, it might be worth considering. Has anyone else tried this service?

Ugh, same thing happened to me last month. It's a nightmare. You gotta call them asap and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho 🙄

•The waiting time is brutal. I've heard some people have luck calling during off-peak hours, but it's still a long wait.

Unpopular opinion: maybe there actually is a lot of fraud and they're just trying to protect the system? 🤷♂️

•It's worth considering, but it seems like the system is just overly cautious to the point of dysfunctionality.

Update: I finally got through to someone after calling for 3 hours straight. They said it was flagged because of a "system error" and that they're working on fixing it. No ETA though. This is so frustrating!

This is happening to a lot of people lately. The system is broken af. They're flagging legit accounts left and right. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call first thing in the morning, like right when they open 2. Have all your documents ready - ID, social security card, pay stubs, etc. 3. Be patient and polite with the rep (even tho it's frustrating) 4. Ask for a supervisor if the first person can't help 5. Keep calling every day until it's resolved Good luck, OP. The system is a joke but don't give up!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: take notes during your call, get the reps name, and ask for a reference number for your case. It helps if you need to follow up later.

•Thanks for the detailed advice! I'm dreading the calls but I guess I have no choice. Did it take you long to get it resolved?

•It took me about 2 weeks of daily calls. Stay persistent! And np, we're all in this sinking ship together 🚢

•Also, try to document the time and duration of your calls. It might come in handy if you need to provide evidence of your attempts to resolve the issue.

When dealing with unemployment account suspensions, it's crucial to stay calm and be prepared. Firstly, gather all pertinent documents, including identification and any correspondences from the unemployment office. Try contacting them during less busy hours. If you're constantly getting flagged, consider reviewing your unemployment documentation to ensure all details are accurate. Claimyr is a tool that can expedite reaching a representative, helpful given the notorious wait times, but it does come at a cost. Its efficacy is praised by many despite the $20 fee. On the other hand, some users prefer to utilize free methods despite the time investment. Always keep a detailed record of every interaction with the unemployment office, as this can be invaluable if issues arise later. Additionally, don't overlook reaching out to local representatives or community resources, which might provide additional support or advocacy. Stay informed, as the policies and processes can change, and advocate for systemic improvements wherever possible.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

•That's a good idea. Sometimes local officials have more pull in situations like this and can expedite the process.

Pro tip: if you get through to someone and they can't help, don't hang up! Ask to be transferred to a tier 2 specialist. They have more authority to fix account issues.

•That's great advice. Sometimes you need to just keep pushing to find someone with the ability to really help.

Hey OP, make sure you're checking your mail too. Sometimes they send important notices about account issues through snail mail (because apparently it's still 1995 🙄

•Yeah, definitely don't neglect checking your physical mail. You never know what might come through that way.

This is so frustrating but unfortunately becoming way too common. I went through the same thing a few months ago - account got flagged out of nowhere even though I'd been filing correctly for weeks. The key is persistence and documentation. Start calling first thing in the morning (like 8am sharp), have your SS card, ID, and any previous correspondence ready. Write down the date/time of every call and who you speak with. It took me about 10 days of daily calls but I finally got someone who could actually fix it. The "system error" excuse is their go-to line but keep pushing. You got this! 💪

•This is really helpful advice! The documentation part is so important - I wish I had started keeping track of my calls from day one. Did you find that calling at 8am sharp actually made a difference in wait times, or was it still hours on hold?

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this! The exact same thing happened to me last week and I was panicking. Here's what worked for me: I called the fraud resolution line specifically (not the general number) at 8:02am - literally right after they opened. Had to call back about 6 times but finally got through after 2 hours on hold. The rep told me it was an "automated flag" triggered by some weird glitch in their system. She cleared it immediately once she reviewed my file. Make sure you have your social security card, driver's license, and last few pay stubs ready. Also ask for a case reference number so you can track it if you need to call back. The whole thing got resolved in one call once I reached the right person. Don't lose hope - most of these "fraud" flags are just system errors! 🤞

•This gives me hope! I'm dealing with the same issue right now and have been calling the general line. Do you happen to know the specific fraud resolution number? Also, did they give you any explanation for why these "automated flags" keep happening to so many people? It seems like their system is way too trigger-happy with the fraud detection.

This is absolutely infuriating and happening to way too many people! I went through this nightmare 3 months ago - same exact situation, account randomly flagged for "fraud" when I hadn't done anything wrong. Here's what finally worked for me: Call the main TWC number at exactly 8:00 AM when they open (not a minute later). Have your SSN, ID, and all documentation ready. When you get through (and you WILL have to call multiple times), immediately ask to speak with the "Identity Verification Unit" - don't waste time with tier 1 support who can't actually fix this. The key phrase to use is "fraudulent account suspension review" - this gets you transferred to the right department faster. It took me 8 days of persistent calling but once I reached the right person, they cleared it in 10 minutes after verifying my info. They admitted their fraud detection system has been overly aggressive lately. Stay strong OP, you're not alone in this mess! 🙏

•Thank you so much for the detailed advice! The "Identity Verification Unit" tip is gold - I've been getting bounced around between different departments and wasting so much time. I'm definitely going to try calling at exactly 8 AM tomorrow and use that specific phrase. It's crazy how broken their fraud detection system is. Did they give you any insight into why it's been so overly aggressive lately? Also, did you have to provide any additional documentation beyond the usual ID/SSN stuff?

This whole situation is a mess and it's happening to way too many people. I just went through this exact same thing two weeks ago - woke up one day and my account was suddenly "disabled for suspected fraud" even though I've been filing correctly for months. The anxiety and stress of potentially losing benefits is unbearable, especially when you know you've done nothing wrong. Here's what worked for me: Call the TWC fraud hotline at (800) 252-3642 instead of the main number. I found this number buried on their website and it connects you directly to the fraud investigation unit. Call right at 8:00 AM sharp when they open - I literally had my phone ready to dial at 7:59:59 AM. Yes, you'll still be on hold for 1-2 hours, but at least you're in the right queue. When you get through, stay calm and professional even though you want to scream. Have your SSN, driver's license, and any TWC correspondence ready. The rep will ask you security questions to verify your identity. In my case, they said it was flagged because I moved addresses recently and their system thought it was suspicious. Complete BS, but whatever. The whole call took about 15 minutes once I got through to someone, and my account was reactivated within 24 hours. They said to expect this kind of thing to keep happening because their fraud detection system is "overly sensitive right now due to increased fraud attempts." Don't give up OP - most of these flags are false positives. The system is broken but you can get through this! 💪

•This is incredibly helpful! I'm saving that direct fraud hotline number - (800) 252-3642. It's ridiculous that we have to hunt down buried phone numbers just to get proper help. The fact that their system flagged you for something as normal as moving addresses shows how broken their fraud detection really is. I'm dealing with this nightmare right now too and it's such a relief to know others have gotten through it successfully. Going to try calling at exactly 8 AM tomorrow with all my docs ready. Thanks for giving us hope that there's light at the end of this tunnel! 🙏
