TWC Unemployment: Union Member Not Getting Paid Despite Work Search Exemption - Can't Reach Anyone
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment payments. I'm in a union and exempt from work search requirements, but I'm still not getting paid. I've responded to all the messages in my inbox. Anyone else dealing with this? It's been weeks and I can't get through to anyone on the phone. The line is always busy or I'm on hold forever. Any advice on how to actually talk to a human at EDD?

Ugh, the EDD is such a joke. They need to update their systems from the stone age 🦕

•Fr fr 💯 It's like they're using carrier pigeons to process our claims

•They really should invest in better tech to handle the volume.

•It's incredibly frustrating. It feels like we're being ignored when we need help the most.

•Honestly, it's like they expect us to give up and not pursue our benefits.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard thats the best time to get through.

•Yeah, I've tried that. No luck. Either busy signal or hours on hold.

•Calling at opening time is a myth. Everyone does it now, so the lines are jammed from the start.

•I used to think it worked, but it's become too popular of a strategy.

Here's what you need to do to get this resolved: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates, times, and outcomes. 2. Double-check your UI Online account. Make sure all your information is up to date and there are no pending tasks or certifications. 3. If you're union-exempt from work search, ensure you have the proper documentation on file. Sometimes this info doesn't get processed correctly. 4. Try the email option through UI Online. It's slow, but you might get a response in a few days. 5. As someone mentioned, contact your local assembly member or state senator's office. They often have dedicated staff for EDD issues. 6. If all else fails, consider using a paid service like Claimyr to get through on the phone. It's not ideal to pay, but it might be worth it to resolve the issue. 7. Once you get through, ask for a tier 2 specialist if the first person can't help. Also, request that they put a note on your account about the issue. 8. If there's a specific reason for the hold on your payments, make sure you understand exactly what's needed to resolve it. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but you're entitled to your benefits.

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push things through.

•I haven't tried that. How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Camila Jordan
•Just google "[your city] assembly member". They usually have a contact form for constituents.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•$20? That's steep when we're already struggling with no payments

•I get the skepticism, but it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it imo.

•Claimyr could be a good option, but it might not be affordable for everyone.

Have you considered using Claimyr? It's a service that promises to connect you with a live agent. While it's $20, many have found success with it. However, it's essential to weigh the cost against your situation, especially if you're not receiving payments yet. It's worth trying other free methods first, like contacting your local assembly member, documenting everything meticulously, and checking your UI Online account for any pending tasks. If all else fails, Claimyr might be helpful, but remember to proceed with caution and consider it as a last resort.

Guys I finally got through!!! Here's what worked for me: 1. Called at 8:01 am 2. Pressed 1, then 2, then 4 3. Sacrificed a goat under a full moon 4. Solved a Rubik's cube while standing on one foot 5. Recited the entire script of Shrek backwards jk about the last 3 but seriously, it's all luck. Keep trying and don't give up!

I swear, dealing with EDD is harder than my last job. Maybe we should all apply to work there and fix it from the inside 🕵️♂️
