PA UC backpay deposited but getting new Money Network card - where will funds go?
Hey everyone! I'm in a weird situation with my PA unemployment benefits. I was just approved on 4/15/2025 and received notification that my backpay weeks have been processed and deposited on 4/17. The problem is I'm supposed to be getting a new Money Network card, but I still have my old UC card from 2023 that hasn't expired yet. Does anyone know where my backpay money will end up? Will they automatically load it onto my old card even though the system is issuing me a new one? I'm worried about the funds being in limbo somewhere. I've tried calling the UC service center but can't get through (big surprise). Any help would be super appreciated! I'm getting anxious since I've got bills piling up waiting for this money.

Mine went on my old card. Call the number on back of ur card and check the balance. They usually just use the card thats already in the system as long as it aint expired.

•Thanks! I'll try calling the card number. Did you have to activate anything or did it just show up in your balance automatically?

The funds will typically go to whatever card is currently linked to your claim in the system. If your old card from 2023 is still valid and was previously linked to your UC account, the money will probably be deposited there. You should be able to check your balance by calling the number on the back of your card or using the Money Network mobile app. If you're expecting a new card, it's because either: 1. You indicated during your application that you needed a new card 2. Your previous card expired 3. You're starting a new benefit year Either way, I'd recommend checking your old card's balance first. The system usually defaults to using existing cards when possible to avoid delays in payment.

•This is really helpful, thank you! I didn't explicitly request a new card, so maybe they're just saying that as standard procedure. I'll check my old card's balance right now.

my cousins roomate had the EXACT same thing happen last month!!! he got a new card even tho his old 1 worked fine and the $ went on the OLD card. So check that 1 first. Its super annoying they don't tell u this stuff up front.

I've worked with PA UC claims for years, and here's what typically happens: If your old card is still valid, the system will default to sending payments there FIRST, before any new card is issued and activated. The Money Network system and PA UC don't always communicate perfectly, which is why you might receive conflicting information. Here's what I suggest: 1. Check your old card balance immediately (phone or app) 2. If no funds there, call Money Network directly at 888-233-5916 3. If Money Network doesn't show a pending deposit, THEN you need to reach UC directly about the payment status If you need to reach UC directly and are struggling to get through, I recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They help you skip the phone queues and connect directly with a PA UC agent. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. I was skeptical at first but used it when I had payment issues last quarter and it saved me days of frustration.

•It's not a scam - it's a legitimate service that helps connect you to UC agents. Yes, there is a fee, but considering I was trying to get through for almost three weeks before using it, it was worth it to me. They don't handle any of your UC account information, they just help you bypass the phone queue.

•I used it 2 months ago when my claim was stuck with "open issues" for like 6 weeks. Got thru to someone in less than an hour after trying for DAYS on my own. Was super relieved. But yeah you should always be careful with your personal info anywhere online.

THIS EXACT THING just happened to me in March. They sent me a letter saying I'd get a new card but the money went to my old card!!! I spent TWO WEEKS panicking and calling everyone until I finally checked my old card - all the money was there the whole time! The UC system is BROKEN and they never explain anything properly. Check your old card FIRST before you waste time like I did!!!!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I did check my old card and found all the money there. You're right that they should explain this better in their communications.

•Yes! It was on my old card all along. Just like most people here suggested. Such a relief!

Last time I filed UC they kept saying new card was coming but nothing ever came and then a month later I got a letter saying they were using my old card. The whole system is just confusing af.

Just to clarify for anyone else with this issue in the future: 1. PA UC will always default to using an existing, unexpired Money Network card first 2. Even if the system mentions "issuing a new card," check your existing card first 3. You can verify which card is linked to your claim by calling UC directly 4. Money Network customer service can also tell you if a new card has been issued 5. New cards are typically only issued if you specifically request one or your old one is expired/reported lost Glad you got your money and everything worked out!

•This is excellent information that should be pinned somewhere! Thanks so much for the clear explanation. Hopefully it helps others avoid the confusion I experienced.
