PA UC appeal won but claim still shows disqualified - how long until I get paid?

Had my appeal hearing this morning and just got the call that the examiner reversed my disqualification! Been waiting for 18 weeks with no income and bills piling up. My UC dashboard still shows 'disqualified' status though. Anyone know how long it typically takes for them to update my claim status and release all those back payments? My landlord is getting really impatient and I need to give him some kind of timeline. Really hoping I don't have to call the UC office since that seems impossible.

Congrats on winning your appeal! In my experience, it takes about 5-7 business days for your claim status to change from disqualified to active after a successful appeal. Once that happens, your back payments should be processed within another 3-5 business days. So roughly 2 weeks total from your hearing date until money hits your account. But PA UC can be unpredictable - I've seen some people get paid faster and others wait longer.

Thanks for the info! 2 weeks seems doable. Did they automatically process all your back weeks or did you have to file for each one separately?

I went through EXACTLY this last September. Won my appeal but my dashboard still showed disqualified for 3 weeks! I tried calling every day but couldn't get through. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach a UC agent and they fixed it immediately. Turns out there was a coding issue in their system that wasn't updating my status automatically. The agent manually released all my payments that same day. Their video demo shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

Thanks for the tip about Claimyr - I might need that if things don't update soon. Did you have to pay back any of the money later or was it all sorted once you talked to someone?

No, once they fixed it I got all my back payments and everything was fine. The agent explained that sometimes the appeal department doesn't properly code the decision into the payment system. Once you talk to the right person, they can override it pretty quickly.

The official policy is that your claim should be updated within 7-10 business days after the appeal examiner enters their decision. However, there are several factors that can affect this timeline: 1. The referee must first write up the decision document 2. It gets transmitted to the UC processing center 3. A claims examiner must update your claim status 4. Your back payments must be individually processed If your dashboard doesn't change to "Active" status within 10 business days, I strongly recommend contacting your state representative's office. They have direct lines to UC liaisons who can expedite your case.

I filed all my biweekly claims even when I was disqualified, so I'm hoping those automatically get paid once my status changes. Sounds like from the other comments I shouldn't have to refile them, but we'll see!

make sure you check your payment method on your dashboard! my friend won her appeal but her payments were going to an old debit card she didn't have anymore and she had to call to update it which took forever

Good point! Just checked and my payment method is set to direct deposit to my current bank account, so at least that's ready to go.

Quick update - I just received all my back payments today! Exactly 9 business days after my hearing. My claim status updated to "Active" on day 7, and the money hit my account 2 days later. All 18 weeks paid at once. Such a relief!

That's excellent news! This timeline aligns with what we typically expect for straightforward cases where everything is properly documented. Make sure to print or save digital copies of your payment history just in case there are any questions in the future.

Congrats!! Now just pray they don't come back a year later saying it was all a mistake and demand everything back with penalties like they did to my cousin 🙄
