PA UC Appeal decision successful but payment still shows disqualified - When will it update?
Hey everyone, need some advice here! I went through my appeal hearing yesterday (was denied initially due to employer claiming misconduct, but I had proof it wasn't true). The referee called me literally an hour after the hearing to tell me I won my appeal! Great news, right? But when I logged into my PA UC portal this morning to check on my payments, everything still shows as 'disqualified' status. No change at all! Does anyone know how long it takes for them to update the system after winning an appeal? I'm getting anxious because I'm behind on rent and really need these payments to start coming through. Will they back-pay all the weeks I was wrongfully denied? The referee didn't really explain next steps...

Congrats on winning your appeal! The system doesn't update instantly - it typically takes 3-5 business days for the referee's decision to be processed and for your claim status to change from disqualified to eligible. Yes, you will receive all back payments for the weeks you properly filed but were wrongfully denied. Keep filing your weekly claims while you wait for the status to update. If it's still showing disqualified after a week, then you should contact UC to follow up.

•2 weeks?? Ugh that's so frustrating. Did you have to do anything special to make it change or did it just happen automatically?

I WON MY APPEAL IN DECEMBER AND MY ACCOUNT STILL SAYS DISQUALIFIED!!! Ive been waiting 7 WEEKS with no payments!!! Called 387 times and NEVER got through. This system is BROKEN beyond belief!!! They tell you that you won but then make it IMPOSSIBLE to actually get paid!!! Im about to be EVICTED and PA UC doesnt care AT ALL!!!

•That doesn't sound right. When you win an appeal, there should be documentation - did you receive the official appeal decision letter in the mail? Sometimes what happens on the phone isn't actually processed properly. You might need to contact your state representative's office to intervene if it's been 7+ weeks without resolution.

I was able to reach someone at UC after my appeal win last month using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have this service where they keep calling UC for you and connect you when they get through. Cost me a bit but was worth it to actually speak to someone who updated my claim on the spot. They have a demo video on how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. I was in the same boat - won my appeal but nothing was happening with the payments for like 10 days.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll give it another week and if I don't see any changes, I might try this. Did they backpay all your weeks once they fixed it?

•Yes, they did backpay everything I was owed once they fixed the status. The UC rep explained that sometimes there's a disconnect between the appeals system and the payment system, and it needs manual intervention to sync up.

•My employer claimed I was consistently late (which would be misconduct), but I had timestamped photos of me at work showing I was on time. Also had texts from my supervisor praising my punctuality, which completely contradicted what they told UC. Sounds like you have good documentation too!

To directly answer your question: The timeframe for your claim to update after winning an appeal varies but is typically 5-10 business days. Here's what you need to know: 1. The referee's decision needs to be processed by a claims examiner 2. Your claim status needs to be manually updated from disqualified to eligible 3. Then each week needs to be individually processed for payment Important: Make sure you've been filing your weekly certifications even while disqualified. If you missed filing for any weeks thinking you were ineligible, contact UC immediately as you may need to request backdating for those weeks. If you don't see movement after 10 business days, call UC directly. The morning (right when they open) tends to have slightly better success rates for getting through.

•This is super helpful, thank you! I've been filing my weekly claims even while disqualified (someone on here gave me that advice when I first got denied), so that's good to know. I'll give it the 10 business days and then try calling. Appreciate the detailed breakdown!

One more tip - print or save a PDF copy of your appeal decision. Sometimes there can be glitches in the system where things revert back to the original determination. Having documentation of your appeal win is important just in case this happens. Also, when your status does change, double-check that all weeks show as payable. Sometimes only the future weeks change status while the back weeks need additional processing.

•Great advice! I took a screenshot of the decision letter but I'll definitely save a PDF too. I'll make sure to check all the previous weeks once it updates. Thanks!

Hey Malik! Just wanted to add my experience - I won my appeal back in October and it took exactly 6 business days for my status to change from disqualified to eligible. The back payments came through about 2 days after that. One thing that helped me was checking the "determination" section of my account daily, not just the main dashboard. Sometimes the update shows there first before it reflects in your payment history. Also, make sure your direct deposit info is still current since some people have had issues where their bank details got cleared during the appeal process. Congrats on winning your case - having solid documentation like you did really makes all the difference!

Congrats on winning your appeal, Malik! I went through a similar situation last year and it's such a relief when you finally get that call saying you won. From my experience, it took about 8 business days for my status to flip from disqualified to eligible. The back payments hit my account about 3 days after that status change. One thing I learned - keep an eye on your "Issues and Determinations" tab in addition to your payment history. Sometimes you'll see the appeal decision posted there before it shows up anywhere else in your account. Also, if you haven't already, make sure to keep filing your weekly certifications even while it still shows disqualified. You don't want to miss any weeks! The waiting is definitely nerve-wracking, especially when you're behind on bills. But sounds like you had solid evidence and did everything right. The system is just slow to catch up sometimes. Hang in there!

•Thanks Fatima! That's really reassuring to hear your timeline. I've been checking the main payment page obsessively but hadn't thought to look at the Issues and Determinations section - I'll definitely start monitoring that too. And yes, I've been keeping up with my weekly certifications even while disqualified (learned that tip from this community early on). It's definitely nerve-wracking waiting, especially with rent due soon, but hearing everyone's success stories gives me hope. Appreciate you sharing your experience!

Hey Malik, congrats on winning your appeal! I just went through this same situation a few months ago. From what I experienced and what I've seen others post here, the timeline is usually 5-7 business days for the system to update after an appeal win. The frustrating part is that it's not automatic - a human has to manually process the referee's decision and flip your status from disqualified to eligible. A couple things that might help while you wait: First, definitely keep filing your weekly certifications like others mentioned. Second, try logging in at different times of day - sometimes the system updates overnight and you might catch it early morning. Third, when it does update, all your back weeks should automatically become payable and you'll get a lump sum for everything you were wrongfully denied. I know the waiting is stressful, especially with rent hanging over your head. But having solid evidence like you did usually means a clean win, and once the system catches up, you should be all set. The fact that the referee called you right after the hearing is actually a really good sign - shows it was a clear-cut decision in your favor. Hang in there!

•Thanks William! That's really helpful to know about the manual processing - that explains why it's not instant. I'll definitely try checking at different times throughout the day. The lump sum payment will be such a relief when it comes through. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and the encouragement!

Congrats on winning your appeal, Malik! I went through the exact same thing about 6 months ago - won my appeal but then had to wait for the system to catch up. In my case, it took 9 business days for my claim status to flip from disqualified to eligible. I remember checking obsessively multiple times a day! Here's what I learned: The referee's decision has to go through several processing steps before it hits your account. First it goes to a claims examiner who reviews the decision, then they have to manually update your claim status, and finally each individual week gets processed for payment. It's all manual work which is why it takes time. The good news is that once it updates, you'll get all your back pay in one lump sum. I received payment for 8 weeks all at once when mine finally processed. Make sure your direct deposit info is current because that's the fastest way to get your money. One tip - when you do start getting payments again, take screenshots of everything just in case there are any future glitches. I learned that lesson the hard way when I had a different issue later on. The waiting is brutal when you're stressed about rent, but it sounds like you have a solid win so it's just a matter of time now!
