PA UC appeal decision in my favor but no pay date yet - how long before I get paid?

I finally won my appeal after fighting with PA UC for almost 2 months (they initially disqualified me claiming I quit, but I had proof I was laid off). The referee ruled completely in my favor last Tuesday, and my portal now shows 'appeal decision rendered' but there's still no pay date showing for any of my back weeks. I'm completely broke at this point - rent is overdue, my car payment is two weeks late, and I had to borrow money just to keep my electricity on. Has anyone gone through this appeal process recently? How much longer until they actually release the money? I'm seriously struggling here and need to know if I should be looking for emergency assistance or if the payment will come through soon.

Congrats on winning your appeal! That's a huge hurdle cleared. In my experience (won my appeal in January), it took about 7-10 business days after the referee's decision for the payments to start processing. The system has to go through and manually release all those back weeks. If you don't see any movement by next Monday, I'd recommend calling them.

Thank you! I've been trying to call every day but keep getting busy signals. 7-10 business days sounds like forever when you're behind on everything, but at least that gives me a timeframe to work with.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE in March!!! The system is BROKEN!!! My appeal was approved and then NOTHING happened for 3 whole weeks! I called over 200 times!!! When I finally got through they said 'oh we see the decision but it hasn't been PROCESSED yet' - like what does that even MEAN?? The money is MINE, I EARNED it, just PAY ME!!! Meanwhile my landlord was threatening eviction and my kid needed medicine. The whole system is rigged to make you give up!!!

It took about 2 weeks after my appeal decision for the money to show up in my account. The status changed to "payable" for all my back weeks first, then a couple days later I got the payments. Their system is really backed up right now because of all the seasonal layoffs happening. You might want to check if there's any other open issues on your claim that could be holding things up too.

I didn't even think to check for other open issues! I just looked and everything seems clear now - just the appeal decision showing. 2 weeks seems to be the consensus, so I'll try to hang on until then. Thanks for the help.

i won my appeal in december and got paid the next day but my brother in law had to wait almost a month so i think it just depends on who processes ur claim and how busy they are?? nobody really knows how the system works tbh even the people who work there lol

The next DAY?? That's amazing. I wish I was that lucky! I guess I'll just keep checking my portal and hope for the best.

If you really need to get through to someone at PA UC, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) last month when I was dealing with a similar issue after winning my appeal. They got me connected to an actual UC rep within 30 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The rep was able to tell me exactly when my payment would be released. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Much better than spending hours redialing.

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to check this out right now. At this point, I just need to speak to someone who can give me a straight answer about when I'll get paid.

The timing really depends on whether there were any other issues with your claim besides what was addressed in the appeal. For example, if you had an "able and available" issue along with the quit/discharge issue, they might need to resolve that separately. Did the referee's decision specifically say "all eligibility requirements have been met" or something similar? Also, when you look at your weeks, do they show as "disqualified" or "pending"?

The decision letter said all eligibility requirements were met and that I'm eligible for benefits without disqualification. My weeks changed from "disqualified" to "appeal decision rendered" but not to "payable" yet. Does that mean there's still another step in the process?

Yes, there's still one more step. The appeal decision has to be implemented by UC staff. They have to go into the system and change each week from "appeal decision rendered" to "payable" status. Then payment dates will be assigned. This usually happens in batches, and can take 5-14 days depending on their workload. Keep checking your portal daily - you'll see the status change to "payable" first, then a day or two later you should see payment dates assigned.

Thank you so much for explaining! That makes sense now. I'll keep checking my portal and hopefully see that "payable" status soon.

I just used that Claimyr service I mentioned, and it actually worked - got through to PA UC in about 20 minutes. The rep told me that after an appeal decision, they have a special team that processes those claims, and they're currently working with about a 8-10 day backlog. She said I should see my payments released by next Thursday at the latest. Just wanted to update in case it helps anyone else in the same situation.

They ALWAYS say stuff like that to get you off the phone! I was told 3-5 days THREE DIFFERENT TIMES and it STILL took 3 weeks! Don't believe anything they tell you until you SEE THE MONEY in your account!!!

does anyone know if u have to file the weekly claims during the appeal process? i forgot to file for 2 weeks while waiting for my appeal hearing cuz i thought it didnt matter and now im worried i wont get paid for those weeks even tho i won the appeal

Yes, you have to keep filing every week even during the appeal process. You might need to ask about filing those weeks late - sometimes they'll let you if you have a good reason. Call and explain your situation.

UPDATE: My benefits just switched to "payable" status this morning! The rep I spoke to yesterday was right about the timeline. No payment date yet, but progress is happening. Thanks everyone for your help and advice - it really helped me understand the process better.

Great news! You should see payment dates within 48 hours once they hit payable status. The Money Network card deposits usually happen a day after the payment date shows up. Glad things are moving forward for you!
