How long after winning CUIAB appeal does EDD update payment status?
I finally had my appeal hearing with CUIAB on January 15, 2025 after waiting for months! Got the letter yesterday (Jan 21) saying the judge ruled in my favor on my disqualification issue. Super relieved but now I'm wondering how long before this actually shows up in my EDD account and I start getting paid? My account still shows 'disqualified' status and I've been certifying this whole time. Anyone gone through this process recently? Does EDD automatically update my claim or do I need to contact them? Getting anxious because rent is due soon and I've been waiting nearly 3 months for this to resolve.

•Thanks! Did you have to call them or anything? Or it just magically updated one day?

The timeframe can vary, but typically EDD updates your claim status within 7-14 business days after receiving the judge's decision from CUIAB. The process is supposed to be automatic, but in my experience, it doesn't hurt to call EDD after about 10 days if you don't see any changes. Make sure you continue certifying for benefits every two weeks even while waiting for the update. Once they process the judge's decision, they'll pay you for all the weeks you certified during the appeal process (assuming you met all other eligibility requirements). Also, keep a copy of that CUIAB decision letter - it's important documentation if there are any further issues with your claim.

•This happened to my cousin and it took EDD almost 3 weeks to update!!! The system is soooo slow sometimes it's ridiculous

I had the EXACT same situation in October!!! Won my appeal and then NOTHING HAPPENED for like 3 weeks!!! I kept checking my UI Online account every single day (sometimes like 5 times a day lol) and it was still showing disqualified. I was going CRAZY thinking they lost my paperwork or something. Then one day it just switched to paid and all my back payments showed up the next day. No notification or anything - just magically fixed itself. Definitely keep certifying every week though!! Don't miss any certifications while you wait or you might have to file more paperwork.

If it's been more than 2 weeks and you still don't see any updates on your account, I'd recommend contacting EDD directly. The standard procedure is for them to implement the judge's decision within 10-14 business days, but sometimes claims can fall through the cracks. I had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an EDD representative quickly when I was in a similar situation. They have a service that helps you bypass the long hold times and connects you with an agent usually within 20 minutes. They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. It was worth it for me when I needed to check on my appeal status and get my payments released faster.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it until next week and then try that service if nothing changes. Did the EDD rep immediately fix your account when you got through?

•Yes, the rep was able to see the judge's decision in their system and manually triggered the update to my claim. They told me it sometimes requires manual intervention even though it's supposed to be automatic. My payments started processing the next day.

THE EDD IS DELIBERATELY SLOW TO PAY EVEN AFTER YOU WIN!!! I won my appeal in 2024 and they made me wait SIX WEEKS before paying me!!!! They hope people will just give up. The system is designed to DENY RIGHTFUL BENEFITS!!! Call them EVERY DAY until they fix it!!!!

•That's not exactly accurate. While there can be delays, the EDD isn't deliberately holding payments after favorable appeals decisions. The delays are typically due to processing backlogs and administrative procedures. Each regional office processes appeals differently, which is why some people see updates within days while others wait weeks. The official guideline is 10-14 business days.

Just wanted to update everyone - my claim status FINALLY changed today! Exactly 12 business days after I received the CUIAB decision. All my weeks switched from disqualified to paid, and my payment is pending in the system. Such a relief! Thanks for all your advice and support through this stressful process.
