EDD appeal approved - how long until I actually see my payment?
Finally got the determination letter yesterday saying my appeal was approved! After fighting for 9 weeks over a bogus "false statement" disqualification, the judge ruled in my favor. The letter says my disqualification is removed and benefits are payable, but doesn't say WHEN. My UI Online account still shows all weeks as "disqualified" and there's no payment pending. Anyone gone through this before? How long does it typically take for EDD to actually process the payment after an appeal win? I'm seriously behind on rent and need to know if I should expect payment this week or if it's going to be another month-long wait.

congrats on winning yr appeal! edd is super slow with updating after appeals. i waited like 3 wks for mine to hit my acct after my telephone hearing. just keep checking ur ui online every day, it'll switch from disqualified to paid with no warning

•3 weeks?? Ugh, that's not what I wanted to hear but thanks for the reality check. Did your UI Online status change before the money showed up, or did it just appear in your account?

The timing varies quite a bit after appeal approvals. Here's what typically happens: 1. The judge's decision gets sent to EDD (1-3 business days) 2. EDD processes the decision and updates their system (3-10 business days) 3. Your account status changes from disqualified to paid 4. Payment processes within 24-48 hours after status change So realistically, you're looking at anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks. I'd suggest calling EDD to make sure they've received and are processing the judge's decision - sometimes they need a nudge to speed things along, especially if you explain your rent situation.

•This! 👆 It really depends on if your local office is backed up. Mine took 9 days total, but my friend waited almost 3 weeks last year. Calling definitely helps.

I spent TWO MONTHS trying to reach EDD after winning my appeal!!! They had "received" the judge's decision but kept telling me it was "in process" every time I managed to get through. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to connect with an actual tier 2 specialist who processed my payment on the spot. The video demo shows exactly how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Seriously worth it to avoid the constant busy signals and disconnects. The specialist told me appeal decisions can get stuck in their system without manual intervention.

•Thanks for the tip. I've been calling the regular number every day with no luck. Might try this if nothing changes by next week. Two months is insane though - I can't wait that long!

my frend won her apeeal in january and got paid in 4 days but she had a diffrent issue (quit vs fired) not false statment so maybe thats faster? false statement takes longer cuz they have to remove the fraud flag on your acount probably

•That's a good point. "False statement" disqualifications have an additional step where the fraud indicator needs to be manually removed from the account by a specific department. This can add 3-5 business days to the process compared to other types of appeal decisions.

I WON MY APPEAL 6 WEEKS AGO AND STILL NOTHING!!!! EDD IS COMPLETELY BROKEN!!! They lost my paperwork TWICE and now claim they have no record of the judge's decision even though I HAVE THE LETTER RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF ME with the case number and everything. Every rep tells me something different - one says it's in process, another says they have no record, a third says I need to call some special department that's NEVER AVAILABLE. This system is DESIGNED to make people give up!!!!!

•This is unfortunately not uncommon with appeal decisions, especially during busy periods. You need to speak with the Appeals Division directly at (800) 300-5616, then press 1 for English, then 6 for Appeals. Ask them to check if your decision was properly recorded in the EDD system. If it was, they can expedite processing. If not, you'll need to provide a copy of your favorable decision letter to appeals@edd.ca.gov with your claim number in the subject line.

Just sharing my experience - after my appeal was approved (for a different issue though, not false statement), I checked my UI Online account obsessively. On day 8, it suddenly switched from disqualified to paid! Money was on my card the next day. No warning, no email, nothing - it just changed. So definitely keep checking your account daily.

•That's helpful to know - I'll keep checking. Did you call EDD at all during those 8 days or just wait it out?

•I tried calling twice but couldn't get through. So basically just waited and hoped for the best. But I think calling is definitely worth trying if you can get through!

My cousin works for EDD (not sharing which office lol) and she says appeals are taking 10-14 business days to process right now because they're short-staffed. But she says if you haven't seen any change after 2 weeks, something is definitely wrong and you should call.

•That's consistent with what I've been hearing from claimants recently. The processing times have increased since the staffing reductions earlier this year.

Congratulations on winning your appeal! Here's exactly what should happen: 1. The Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) submits their decision to EDD (typically 1-2 business days after your hearing) 2. EDD's Appeals Division processes the decision (5-10 business days) 3. For false statement disqualifications specifically, the Compliance Division must review and remove penalty flags (3-5 additional days) 4. Once processed, all weeks switch from "disqualified" to "paid" status 5. Payment processing begins automatically (24-48 hours) 6. Funds appear on your Money Network card or direct deposit (1-2 business days) Total time: typically 10-21 days from decision date. If it's been more than 3 weeks, I recommend contacting your local assembly member's office for assistance. They have direct lines to EDD specialists who can resolve these issues quickly.

•This is super helpful, thank you! I'm on day 4 since receiving the letter (probably day 5-6 since the judge made the decision). I'll give it another week before panicking. Good call on contacting my assembly member if it goes beyond 3 weeks.

anyone saying 2 weeks is being OPTIMISTIC!!! My friend and I both won appeals for the EXACT SAME ISSUE and she got paid in 9 days while I'm still waiting after 5 WEEKS!!! It's completely RANDOM depending on which EDD employee gets your file and how backed up they are!!! The ONLY thing that works is calling over and over until you get someone who actually CARES enough to help!!!

I'm going through something similar right now! Won my appeal for false statement disqualification about 2 weeks ago and still waiting. Called EDD yesterday and they said the appeals decision is "in their system" but needs to go through the fraud review department to remove the penalty before payment can process. The rep estimated another 5-7 business days but honestly who knows with EDD's timelines. Really hoping it doesn't drag on like some of the horror stories here. Will keep you posted on how long mine takes - fingers crossed we both get paid soon!

•Thanks for sharing your timeline! It's somewhat reassuring to hear from someone else in the exact same situation. The fraud review step seems to be the real bottleneck for false statement cases. Please definitely keep us updated - it helps to know what's realistic vs what's just EDD giving false hope. Really hoping both of us see movement soon! 🤞

I'm in almost the exact same boat! Won my false statement appeal 10 days ago and my UI Online still shows everything as disqualified. Called EDD twice this week - first rep said "it's processing" and second one said they couldn't see any appeal decision in the system at all (even though I have the judge's letter right here). It's so frustrating getting different answers every time. Based on what everyone's saying here, sounds like I need to be patient for at least another week before really panicking. @Miguel Hernández - have you tried calling the Appeals Division directly at that number Klaus mentioned? Might be worth a shot since regular customer service seems pretty clueless about appeal processing.

•@Jamal Wilson - I haven t'tried the Appeals Division number yet, but that s'a great suggestion! The fact that you re'getting completely different answers from regular customer service is exactly what I m'worried about. One rep saying it "s'processing and" another saying they can t'see the decision at all is just classic EDD confusion. I think I ll'try that direct appeals line tomorrow morning - 800 (300-5616,) press 1 then 6 right? At least they should know what they re'talking about when it comes to appeal decisions. Will report back on what I find out!

Just went through this exact situation last month! Won my false statement appeal and it took exactly 12 business days for the payment to show up. Here's what I learned from calling EDD multiple times: The "false statement" flag creates extra steps because it's considered a fraud penalty, so it has to go through their Compliance/Fraud Review unit after the Appeals Division processes it. Regular customer service reps can't see this process, which is why you get conflicting info when you call the main number. My UI Online account looked exactly like yours - everything still showed "disqualified" right up until the day it suddenly switched to "paid." No gradual changes or warnings, it just flipped overnight around day 11. One thing that helped me was keeping a log of when I received the judge's decision letter vs when EDD actually received it (they're different dates). The processing timeline starts from when EDD gets it, not when you do. Hang in there - 9 weeks fighting the appeal was the hard part, this waiting is just EDD being their usual slow selves!

•@Javier Torres This is super reassuring to hear from someone who just went through the exact same thing! 12 business days is definitely better than some of the horror stories here. I like your point about tracking when EDD actually received the decision vs when I got my letter - I received mine on a Tuesday so EDD probably got it Wednesday or Thursday. That would put me at about day 6-7 of their processing timeline, which makes the wait feel a bit more manageable. Really helpful to know that the UI Online account won t'show any gradual changes - I ve'been checking obsessively waiting for some sign of progress. Thanks for the hope that this will actually resolve soon!

I'm in a similar situation - won my false statement appeal 2 weeks ago and still waiting! Your post gives me hope that it's actually moving through the system even though my UI Online looks exactly the same. One thing I learned from calling is that you can also check if your claim has been flagged for "manual review" by asking the rep to look at your claim notes - apparently this is common with false statement reversals because they need a supervisor to manually remove the fraud indicators. The rep told me to expect 2-3 weeks total processing time specifically for false statement appeals because of this extra step. It's frustrating but sounds like you're right on track based on everyone's experiences here!

•@NebulaNomad That's really helpful info about the manual review flag! I had no idea to ask about that when calling. It makes sense that false statement reversals need extra supervisor approval to remove fraud indicators - probably explains why these cases take longer than regular appeal decisions. 2-3 weeks sounds about right based on what everyone else is saying here. Did the rep give you any indication of where you are in that process, like whether the manual review has started yet? I'm thinking I should call and specifically ask about claim notes and manual review status rather than just asking "when will I get paid" which seems to get generic responses.

I went through this exact situation about 6 months ago! Won my false statement appeal and it took 16 business days total for the money to hit my account. The key thing I learned is that false statement cases have to go through an additional "penalty removal" process that regular appeals don't need. Here's what actually happens behind the scenes: After the Appeals Division enters the judge's decision, your case gets transferred to the Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) unit who has to manually review and remove all the fraud flags on your account. This can take 7-10 business days by itself because it requires supervisor approval at multiple levels. My advice: Don't panic until you hit the 3-week mark. The system won't show any progress until the very end when everything suddenly flips from disqualified to paid overnight. Also, try calling right at 8:01 AM - I had better luck getting through to someone who could actually see my case status during the early morning hours. You've already done the hardest part winning the appeal - this is just EDD's bureaucratic machinery slowly grinding along. Hang in there!

•@Oliver Schulz Thanks so much for breaking down what actually happens behind the scenes! The BAM unit and penalty removal process makes total sense - I had no idea there were multiple supervisor approvals required. That explains why the timeline is so unpredictable and why regular customer service reps can t'give accurate updates. 16 business days is definitely within the range everyone s'been mentioning here. I m'going to try your 8:01 AM calling strategy tomorrow to see if I can get someone who actually knows about the BAM process. Really appreciate you sharing the detailed timeline - it helps to understand this isn t'just random delays but an actual multi-step process that takes time!

I just went through this exact same process! Won my false statement appeal about a month ago and it took 14 business days for everything to process. What really helped me was understanding that false statement reversals go through a completely different workflow than regular appeals - they have to remove fraud flags, penalty indicators, and get multiple supervisor approvals before any payments can be released. The most frustrating part is that your UI Online account won't show ANY progress during this time - it'll look exactly the same (all disqualified) right up until the moment it suddenly flips to paid. I checked mine obsessively every day and it was always the same until day 13 when everything magically changed overnight. My recommendation: give it the full 3 weeks before you start escalating to assembly members or anything drastic. The 9-week fight for the appeal was the real battle - this is just EDD's slow bureaucratic process doing its thing. Keep checking your account daily but try not to stress if nothing changes for another week or two. You WILL get paid, it's just a matter of when their system finally processes everything!

•@Alice Pierce This is exactly what I needed to hear! It s'so helpful to know that the UI Online account showing no progress is completely normal during this process. I ve'been driving myself crazy checking it multiple times a day expecting to see some kind of update. Knowing that it just suddenly flips from disqualified to paid overnight on day 13-14 gives me realistic expectations. The fact that false statement appeals have this completely separate workflow with fraud flag removal and multiple supervisor approvals makes so much sense - no wonder regular customer service reps can t'give accurate timelines. I m'on about day 7-8 now so sounds like I m'roughly halfway through the process. Really appreciate you sharing your exact timeline - it helps me stay patient knowing this is normal bureaucratic speed, not something being stuck or lost in the system!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Won my false statement appeal 8 days ago and my UI Online still shows everything as disqualified. Reading through all these responses is both reassuring and nerve-wracking - sounds like anywhere from 10-21 business days is normal for false statement reversals because of the extra fraud flag removal process. What's really helpful is learning that the UI Online account won't show any gradual progress - it just stays "disqualified" until everything suddenly flips to "paid" overnight once all the backend processing is complete. I was starting to worry something was wrong since there's been zero change, but now I understand that's totally normal. Planning to try calling the Appeals Division directly at (800) 300-5616 (press 1, then 6) to see if they can at least confirm they received the judge's decision and it's in their processing queue. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines - it really helps to know what to expect during this waiting period!

•@ShadowHunter I'm in almost the exact same timeline as you - won my false statement appeal about a week ago and seeing zero changes in UI Online. It's really reassuring to read everyone's experiences here showing this is completely normal! The Appeals Division direct line is a great idea - I tried calling regular customer service yesterday and got the usual "it's processing" non-answer. Definitely going to try that (800) 300-5616 number tomorrow morning. At least if we can confirm they actually received and are processing the judge's decision, it'll give some peace of mind during this waiting period. The 10-21 day timeline everyone's mentioning actually seems pretty consistent across all the false statement cases here. Fingers crossed we're both in that final stretch of the BAM unit doing their thing with the fraud flag removal!

I'm in the EXACT same situation right now! Won my false statement appeal 6 days ago and my UI Online account looks identical to yours - everything still showing "disqualified" with no pending payments. After reading all these responses, I'm feeling a lot more informed about what to expect. It sounds like false statement reversals are basically a completely different beast compared to regular appeals because of all the fraud flag removal and supervisor approvals required. The timeline everyone's sharing (10-21 business days) is actually pretty consistent, and knowing that the UI Online account won't show ANY progress until it suddenly flips overnight is weirdly comforting. I was starting to panic thinking something was stuck, but now I understand this radio silence is totally normal during the BAM unit processing phase. I'm planning to try that Appeals Division direct line ((800) 300-5616, press 1 then 6) tomorrow morning just to confirm they received the judge's decision and it's in their queue. Hang in there Miguel - sounds like we're both in the normal waiting period and should see movement in the next week or two!

•@Amina Diallo We re'definitely in this together! I m'on day 4-5 since getting my letter, so sounds like we re'both in that early phase of the process. It s'really helpful having all these detailed timelines from people who ve'been through the exact same false statement reversal process - makes the waiting feel less scary when you know it s'normal bureaucratic speed rather than something being lost or stuck. The BAM unit fraud flag removal process that @Oliver Schulz explained really makes sense of why these cases take so much longer than regular appeals. I m going'to try that Appeals Division number too - even just confirming they have the decision in their system would give me peace of mind. Thanks for sharing your timeline, it definitely helps to know others are going through this same waiting game right now!
