PA Career Link appointment scheduling link greyed out - can't book required meeting despite completing orientation

Hey everyone, I'm totally stuck with my PA Career Link requirements. I've completed all the orientation steps and other info they asked for, but now I can't figure out how to schedule that mandatory meeting with a career counselor. The system shows I've completed everything, but when I try to click the scheduling link, it's completely greyed out! I can't click it at all. Has anyone else run into this issue? It's so frustrating because my UC benefits depend on completing this meeting, but I literally can't schedule it through the portal. Any advice on how to get this appointment booked?

Thanks! I've been using Chrome so that might be the issue. I'll download Firefox and try that tonight.

There are a few things you can try to resolve this issue: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again 2. Try a different browser as suggested above 3. Try accessing the site during non-peak hours (early morning works best) 4. Make sure you've actually completed ALL the orientation modules - sometimes there's a final confirmation step that's easy to miss 5. Check if you need to complete your profile information 100% before scheduling is enabled If none of these work, you'll need to contact your local PA CareerLink office directly. The online system has been having these glitches since they updated it in January 2025.

The profile thing was my issue!! I thought I filled everything out but there was this tiny section about work history at the bottom I missed. Once I did that the button turned blue and I could click it.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN ON PURPOSE I SWEAR!!! They make these websites confusing so people give up and they don't have to pay benefits. I spent THREE WEEKS trying to schedule my career link appointment and kept getting errors. Called the office 14 times and nobody answered. Finally had to physically go to the office to get it fixed. The whole thing is designed to make you fail.

That seems a bit extreme. While the system does have technical issues, it's more likely due to outdated technology and underfunding rather than deliberate obstruction. I've worked with many claimants who successfully schedule these appointments once they troubleshoot the common issues.

MAYBE IT'S NOT ON PURPOSE but it's EXACTLY what happens when they cut funding and don't test their garbage systems!! End result is the same - people can't get the help they need and miss out on benefits they DESERVE!

when i had this issue it was because i needed to verify my email first. check your spam folder for a verification link maybe? after i clicked that the scheduling button worked fine for me

I had the exact same problem last month when trying to schedule my PA CareerLink appointment. After trying everything online without success, I used Claimyr to reach someone at the UC service center (claimyr.com). They connected me directly to a rep who was able to troubleshoot the CareerLink issue on the spot. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The rep explained that sometimes the system flags accounts for manual review which disables the scheduling button. They fixed it while I was on the phone and I was able to schedule right away. Saved me weeks of frustration!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try the browser fixes first, but if those don't work I'll definitely look into this. My benefits are on hold until I complete this meeting so I'm getting desperate.

this happened to me too! turns out you have to wait 24 hours after finishing the orientation before the link becomes active. dumb system never tells you that tho lol. maybe try again tomorrow?

It's actually been 3 days since I completed the orientation, so I don't think that's my issue. But good to know there's a delay for some people!

As a career counselor who works with the PA CareerLink system, I can tell you this is a common issue. Here's what you need to do: 1. Log out completely and clear your browser cache 2. Log back in and go to your dashboard 3. Look for a section called "Action Items" or "Required Steps" 4. Make sure there's a green checkmark beside EVERY item 5. If all items show complete but the link is still greyed out, there's likely a synchronization issue between systems In that case, call your local CareerLink office directly (not the UC service center) and ask for the Career Services department. Tell them you have a "scheduler synchronization issue" - using those exact words will help them understand the technical problem. They can manually enable scheduling on their end. Also, make sure you're eligible for scheduling - if you just completed orientation today, the system typically updates overnight, so try again tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! I'll check for the Action Items section - I might have missed something there. And I like the tip about the specific wording to use when calling. Really appreciate the help!

I had this exact same issue a few months ago! What finally worked for me was logging in through the PA.gov portal instead of going directly to the CareerLink site. For some reason the scheduling button worked when I accessed it that way. Also make sure you're using the "full site" version if you're on mobile - the mobile version has tons of bugs with the scheduling feature. If you're still stuck after trying all these browser fixes, you can also try calling during their least busy times (Tuesday-Thursday mornings around 8-9am seem to work best for getting through). Good luck!
