just curious but did u have to do the id.me verification thing? that was such a pain for me
Yes! The ID.me verification was actually pretty quick for me, but then I ran into the issue with my name not matching. The whole process would have been faster if they'd just asked for all documents upfront instead of requesting one thing at a time.
UPDATE: Just wanted to follow up since I saw your post. Has your payment come through yet? I know waiting for that first deposit can be stressful when bills are due.
YES! It finally came through this morning - took exactly 4 business days from approval. And you were right about the back pay - I got payments for all three weeks at once. What a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!
Don't panic yet! My reopening was approved after about 3 weeks (compared to the 10 weeks my initial claim took). The waiting is super frustrating though - I was checking my portal like 10 times a day! One thing that might help speed things up: check if you have any messages or tasks in your dashboard. Sometimes they need additional info but the notification emails end up in spam.
Thanks, that's good advice. I just double-checked my dashboard and don't see any tasks or messages yet, but I'll keep checking daily. It's weird how the system works sometimes!
has anyone tried contacting their state representative about speeding up claims? my sister did that and her claim was fixed in like 3 days after waiting for weeks
my cousin got a weekend job while waiting for UC and it was fine they just reduced his payment on weeks he worked but he still got most of his benefits
Your cousin got LUCKY. I had a completely different experience! The system is totally inconsistent!!!
Thank you all so much for the advice! I think I'm going to accept the tutoring position and just be extremely careful about reporting everything correctly in my weekly certifications. The extra $95/week will help while I wait for my claim to process, and it sounds like it shouldn't affect my eligibility as long as I'm transparent. I'll continue my full-time job search and keep documenting everything meticulously. Really appreciate everyone taking the time to share your experiences!
my neighbor had to wait like 10 weeks but he got all the backpay at once so maybe that will happen 4 ur husband too
That's reassuring that at least the backpay should eventually come through. It's just hard to pay bills with money we don't have yet.
UPDATE: For anyone finding this thread with similar issues, here are the current (2025) most common reasons for extended investigations: 1. Employer separation dispute (most common) 2. Wage verification discrepancies 3. Work authorization verification 4. Multiple employer issues 5. Prior overpayment flags If you can identify which one might apply to your situation, you can address it specifically when you call. Make sure to use the exact issue terminology when speaking with representatives.
UPDATE: We finally got the claim approved! It took exactly 7 weeks total. For anyone else dealing with this - we did three things that seemed to help: 1) Contacted our state rep who submitted an inquiry, 2) Used Claimyr to finally get through to a person at UC who escalated the claim, and 3) Had my husband contact his former employer who confirmed they had already responded to PA UC. The money hit our account yesterday including all back weeks. So relieved! Thanks everyone for your advice and support!

I had this EXACT situation in January!!! They flagged my account because someone tried to hack into it back in 2020 during all that PUA fraud stuff. Even though I had nothing to do with it and am on regular UC now!!! Took me FOREVER to get it fixed and I nearly got evicted waiting for my money. The whole system is designed to make us fail I swear!!! 😡😡😡

•Oh no, that sounds awful! How long did it take you to get it fixed? I'm getting worried now...

•Honestly it was like 3 weeks of pure hell. I kept calling and they kept saying "it's being processed" but nobody would actually DO anything. Finally I went to my state rep's office and they made some calls and magically it was fixed the next day. So if calling Treasury doesn't work definitely contact your state representative!!!

Update for anyone reading this thread later: As of March 2025, PA UC has implemented a new system where banking flags can now be resolved through your dashboard on the UC portal. Look for "Payment Method Issues" under the "My Benefits" tab, and you can electronically verify your identity and confirm your payment method. This often resolves these types of flags within 24-48 hours without calling. However, for urgent matters like the OP's situation, calling is still recommended.

•Thanks for this update! I actually just got off the phone with Treasury and they were super helpful. They removed the banking flag and confirmed my payments will go to my Money Network card within 2 business days. For anyone with a similar issue - definitely call them directly, it only took about 20 minutes once I got through!
