last year i never got mine online at all! had to request paper copy by mail. system is so broken sometimes. the phone lines are a joke too.
After reading through this thread, I'd suggest you: 1. Try calling at 7:59am as suggested (this does work better) 2. Consider the Claimyr service if you continue having trouble getting through 3. Gather your evidence about the rule violation situation (especially those text messages) 4. Prepare a clear timeline of both job separations 5. Be ready to explain why you shouldn't be disqualified for either separation Remember that once you do get through to someone, they can often resolve multiple issues in one call. Ask them to review ALL open issues on your claim. Good luck!
UPDATE: I finally got through! Used the Claimyr service after three more days of failed calling attempts. The examiner was able to see all my issues and said my first separation (the early termination during notice period) was actually approved weeks ago but the system hadn't processed it correctly. For the second job, they're sending me a questionnaire about the rule violation situation. They also scheduled a phone interview for next week. The representative said once that's done, I should start receiving payments for the eligible weeks. Such a relief to at least know what's happening now!
dont they have to prove you got the notice? like dont they send important stuff certified mail or something
Unfortunately, PA UC typically sends most notices by regular first-class mail, not certified mail. They're only required to send it to your last known address on file. This is exactly why keeping your address updated with them is so important, and why so many people run into this problem. They don't have to prove you personally received it - only that they sent it to your address of record. It's definitely a flaw in the system.
Update: I talked to Legal Aid today and they're going to help me file the "nunc pro tunc" appeal! The attorney said I have a strong case since I never received ANY communication about the appeal until they tried to take my tax refund. Apparently PA UC is required to make a "reasonable attempt" to notify claimants, and sending one notice to a possibly outdated address doesn't qualify as reasonable when they're collecting debts years later. Will keep everyone posted on how this goes. Thanks so much for all the advice!
That's excellent news! Legal Aid attorneys who specialize in unemployment cases know exactly how to handle these situations. Make sure they address both the procedural issue (lack of notice) and the substantive issue (whether you were actually eligible for the benefits in the first place). Your case is exactly why the "nunc pro tunc" process exists. Good luck, and please do update us on how it goes - your experience could help others in similar situations.
My neighbor had the SAME PROBLEM last month!!! He said he went to the ACTUAL UC OFFICE in person and they fixed it right there!! Sometimes u gotta show up in person when the online stuff is broken!!
This is partially correct information. While PA UC does have physical offices, they operate on an appointment-only basis now, not walk-ins. You need to schedule through the PA CareerLink system. That said, for identity verification issues, an in-person appointment can indeed resolve things quickly if you bring proper identification documents.
FINAL UPDATE: Success!! The IDme trusted referee video call worked perfectly. The rep was super helpful and verified my identity using my driver's license and birth certificate. About an hour after the call, I was able to log into my UC portal again! And the best news - I was able to file for both missed weeks without any issues. The system accepted them as if nothing happened. Payment is pending for all weeks now. HUGE relief! Thanks to everyone who helped me figure this out!
This is a great outcome! I'm glad you got everything resolved. For anyone else reading this thread with similar issues: Remember that IDme trusted referee video calls are available 24/7, and this approach often works faster than trying to reach PA UC directly. Also, as this case demonstrates, as long as you file within the 2-week window, you won't lose your benefits even if verification issues temporarily prevent access.

Good news - I just checked the UC website and they recently updated their postponement policy. They now allow you to submit postponement requests online through your dashboard. Might be faster than waiting for mail forms or faxing things in. Look for the "Appeal Hearing Actions" section after you log in.

•Oh that's fantastic news! I just logged in and found that section. You're right - there's an option to request postponement right there. I'm uploading my flight information now. Thank you so much for letting me know about this!

UPDATE: I just heard from a colleague who works with UC appeals that they're currently processing postponements within 3-5 business days. So you should hear back about your request fairly quickly. Once approved, they typically reschedule 2-3 weeks out, but it can sometimes be longer depending on their backlog.

•That's really helpful information! I'm hoping to hear back soon. I'll be nervous until I get the official rescheduled date. I really appreciate everyone's help and advice here - it's made this situation so much less stressful knowing what to expect.
