my sister in law told me they sometimes hold payments if u've been claiming for a while to make sure ur still eligible... how long have u been on unemployment?
Just wanted to update everyone that my payment from Monday's filing just hit my Money Network card this morning around 6:30am. So it was exactly one day later than my usual timeline. Thanks for all the helpful info!
nice! glad it worked out. the UC system is super picky about timing but at least its consistent
this happened to my cousin and she got her new hearing date in like 10 days so maybe it wont be that bad good luck!
To update everyone on this thread - I just checked with a colleague who works with the appeals office, and there's currently a situation at the Reading office where they had a referee go on extended medical leave, causing them to redistribute cases to other offices. This is likely why your case is being moved to Wilkes-Barre. The good news is that they are prioritizing these transferred cases, so you might get a new date faster than normal. The bad news is that Wilkes-Barre is also handling their regular caseload plus these transfers, so there could still be some delay. Definitely follow the advice to call and emphasize your financial hardship situation. Also, ask specifically if they can offer you a phone hearing as those can sometimes be scheduled more quickly.
hey i kno this is completely off topic but did anyone have to do the ID.me verification? they sent me a link but when i try to do the video call verification thing it keeps saying no agents available and i'm worried my claim will be disqualified if i don't complete it soon
Yes, ID.me verification is required for many PA UC claims now. Try doing the verification early in the morning (6-8am) or late evening (10pm-midnight) when fewer people are trying to connect with agents. Those times typically have much shorter waits for the video verification step.
thank u!! will try tonight at 11
UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at UC this morning! The rep explained that because my claim was backdated for 13 weeks, the total amount was too large for a single payment, so they're sending the first portion as a paper check. She said it was mailed on Monday and should arrive by the end of this week. The remaining payments will come via direct deposit once the check portion is processed. She also mentioned that the system sometimes defaults to paper checks for first-time claimants as a security measure. For anyone else dealing with this issue - keep checking your mail and be patient! Will update when my check arrives.
thats good news!! glad ur finally getting paid!
Thanks for updating! This confirms what I mentioned earlier about large backdated payments. Hope your check arrives soon and the rest of your payments come through without issues.
One more thing - if you're able to get your hearing changed to phone, make sure you're in a quiet place with good reception when they call. Have all your documents spread out where you can see them. Take notes during the other party's testimony so you can address any inaccuracies. And most importantly, speak clearly and answer only what is asked without volunteering extra information that might hurt your case.
just wondering did u get thru to them yet?? let us know what happens!!
Yes! I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above and got through this morning after trying for hours yesterday. They're allowing me to do the hearing by phone! I just need to fax over my doctor's note confirming my anxiety diagnosis. Such a relief 😅

when i got approved back in april it took 9 days from seeing the amounts to getting paid. my sister only took 2 days though so it seems to vary. good luck!!!

Just as an update: if you submitted your initial application after March 1, 2025, you should know that PA UC implemented some new verification procedures that can add time to first payments. This was part of their fraud prevention upgrades. The good news is that once your first payment processes, subsequent weeks are usually much faster (1-2 business days after certification). Since your monetary determination is already approved, you're on the right track!

•That's really helpful info! I did submit in early March, so maybe that's part of the delay. I'm just going to try to be patient for a few more days before trying the contact methods suggested here. Really appreciate everyone's insights!
