Why is NYS Department of Labor unemployment not paying my benefits - claim approved but no payments
My unemployment claim was approved 2 weeks ago but I still haven't received any payments. The my.ny.gov portal shows my weekly claims as 'effective' but my payment history is completely empty. I've been filing every week on time and haven't missed any certifications. Is anyone else having issues with NYS Department of Labor not releasing payments even after approval? I'm getting really worried about rent next week.

Check your payment method settings in your account. Sometimes there's a delay if your direct deposit info needs verification or if they're sending a debit card. Also look for any outstanding eligibility issues that might be holding up payment release.

•I checked and my direct deposit is set up correctly, same account I've used before. No eligibility issues showing either. This is so frustrating!

•How did you find out about the identity verification? Did they send you a notice or did you have to call?

This is a common issue with NYS Department of Labor right now. Even with approved claims, there can be backend processing delays or additional verification steps that aren't clearly communicated. You might need to speak with an agent to identify what's causing the hold-up. I had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to someone quickly - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Much easier than trying to call on your own.

•Is that one of those paid services? I'm already broke waiting for unemployment to start paying.

•Yeah it's a service but when you're facing weeks without income, sometimes you need to invest a bit to solve the problem. The alternative is spending hours trying to get through on your own with no guarantee.

THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF LABOR SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY BROKEN! They approve claims just to make their numbers look good but then find every excuse not to pay. I've been waiting 6 weeks for payments on an APPROVED claim. This is ridiculous!

•I feel your frustration but there are usually specific reasons for payment delays. Have you tried checking for any pending documents or verifications in your account?

Wait, if your claim is approved why wouldn't payments start automatically? I thought that's how it worked. I'm filing for the first time next week and now I'm worried this will happen to me too.

•Approval means you're eligible for benefits, but there can still be processing delays or additional verification steps before payments actually start flowing. Don't panic, just be prepared to follow up if needed.
