Why haven't I got my unemployment benefits from NYS Department of Labor yet?
Filed my claim about 6 weeks ago and still nothing. My account shows 'pending' but doesn't explain what's happening. I've been doing my weekly claims every Sunday like I'm supposed to but zero payments. Called the NYS Department of Labor multiple times but can't get through to anyone who can actually help. Starting to panic because rent is due next week. Anyone else dealing with this? What am I missing here?

•Exactly! The website just says 'continue filing weekly claims' but gives no timeline or reason for the delay.

Your claim is likely stuck in adjudication. This happens when NYS Department of Labor needs to verify employment history, reason for separation, or wage information. The process can take 4-8 weeks depending on how quickly your former employer responds to their requests. Keep filing your weekly claims during this time - you'll get backpay once it's resolved.

•How do I know if it's actually in adjudication though? My account doesn't specifically say that anywhere.

•Check under 'Claim Status' - it might say 'Under Review' or 'Pending Determination.' Sometimes the system doesn't use the word adjudication directly but that's what's happening when payments are delayed this long.

•How long did it take to finally get resolved? I'm really stressed about money right now.

I had the worst time trying to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor about my delayed claim. Spent hours on hold just to get disconnected. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual agent. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Within 2 days of talking to someone, my adjudication was resolved and payments started flowing.

•Is that legitimate? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point but don't want to get scammed.

•Yeah it's real - they basically just help you get through the phone queue faster. I was skeptical too but it actually worked. Worth checking out their video demo to see what they do.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I've been waiting 2 MONTHS and nobody at NYS Department of Labor can give me a straight answer about what's happening with my claim. They make you jump through hoops and then just leave you hanging with no income.

•I feel your frustration but getting angry doesn't help. The adjudication process exists for good reasons even though it's painful to wait through.

Keep documentation of everything - your filing dates, weekly claim confirmations, any correspondence. If there are issues later you'll need proof you followed all the requirements. Also double-check that you're meeting the job search requirements during this waiting period.

•Good point about the job search log. I've been doing searches but haven't been keeping detailed records like I should.
