Why haven't I gotten my unemployment benefits from NYS Department of Labor yet?
Filed my claim about 6 weeks ago and still nothing. My weekly claims keep getting processed but no payments show up in my account. The my.ny.gov portal just says 'claim under review' but doesn't explain what that means. I've been certifying every week like I'm supposed to but I'm starting to panic because rent is due next week. Is this normal? What could be holding things up?

Same boat here - filed 5 weeks ago and nada. The waiting is brutal when you got bills piling up.

•At least I'm not alone in this mess. Did you try calling them?

Usually when it says 'claim under review' that means you're stuck in adjudication. Could be they need to verify your employment history, or there's some issue with your separation from your last job. Check if there are any pending issues listed in your account that need documentation.

•I don't see any pending issues listed anywhere. How long does adjudication usually take?

•Can be anywhere from 2-8 weeks depending on how backed up they are. NYS Department of Labor is swamped right now.

OH MY GOD yes this is happening to me too!! I'm so stressed about this, what if they deny my claim completely?? I don't know what I'll do, I've been unemployed for two months already and my savings are almost gone. Should I file again or will that mess things up even more???

•Don't file again - that will definitely mess things up. Just keep certifying weekly and wait for the adjudication to finish.

I had this exact same problem last year and it took forever to get through to anyone at NYS Department of Labor. The phone lines are always busy and when you do get through they just tell you to wait. I ended up using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Honestly saved my sanity because I was calling for weeks with no luck.

•Never heard of that service before. Is it legit? How much does it cost?

•Yeah it's real, they just help you get through the phone queue faster. Worth checking out their video to see if it might help your situation.

The whole NYS Department of Labor system is a joke. They make it impossible to reach anyone and then act like it's your fault when things get delayed. I've been fighting with them for months over different issues.

•Ugh tell me about it. The bureaucracy is insane.

Keep certifying weekly no matter what - if you miss weeks you'll lose those payments even after your claim gets approved. Also document everything in case you need to appeal later. The adjudication process is frustrating but most claims do get approved eventually if you're eligible.

•Thanks, that's actually reassuring. I'll keep certifying and try to be patient.

I'm dealing with the same situation right now - filed 4 weeks ago and still waiting on my first payment. The uncertainty is the worst part because you can't plan anything when you don't know if or when the money will come. I've been checking my account obsessively every day hoping to see some progress. At least seeing all these comments makes me feel less alone in this process. Has anyone here actually gotten through the adjudication and received their backpay eventually?
