Verified through ID.me on 8/19 but NY unemployment benefits still pending after 45 days - how much longer until release?

Finally got verified through ID.me after dealing with this for almost 45 days. Got the email confirmation yesterday (10/25) saying "You're verified" and that "an ID.me Trusted Referee verified your identity on 08/19/2021 during a live video call." I received the email at 9:19 AM in my inbox with the subject line "Confirmed: Identity verification complete." Here's the exact content of the email: "ID.me You're verified An ID.me Trusted Referee verified your identity on 08/19/2021 during a live video call. You may now access benefits and services with New York State Department of Labor and view your credential at any time in ID.me My Account. How did we do? Take a quick survey. Questions? We're here to help. Visit ID.me Support" The email clearly states I should now be able to access my benefits with New York State Department of Labor. There are even links at the bottom for a survey and support options. But my account still shows pending and no money has been released to me. I completed the verification exactly as required - did the live video call with a Trusted Referee and got official confirmation. Anyone know how long I should expect to wait from this point? I'm getting really desperate and can't keep calling that stupid phone line just to be hung up on. I've already been dealing with this for over a month and a half, and now even with the verification complete, I'm still waiting. My rent is due in a few days and I have no income coming in. Is there something else I need to do after the ID.me verification? The email makes it sound like it should be immediate access.

wait another week and then try calling. sometimes the system takes time to update after ID.me verification. took me about 10 days before my payments started processing.

10 DAYS? I can't wait that long! I'm already behind on rent and have like $23 in my account 😭

Mine took 14 days and I was going insane. The system is completely broken.

yeah its ridiculous how long everything takes. the whole system needs an overhaul fr

After struggling with the same issue last month, I finally found a solution! Used a service called claimyr.com that got me connected to an actual human at unemployment within 2 hours. Talking to the agent directly got my benefits released same day - best money I ever spent after weeks of frustration. They have a video explaining how it works here: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

is this for real? ive been trying to talk to someone for like 3 weeks straight

0 coins

100% real. I was skeptical too, but I was desperate after getting nowhere for weeks. They basically call for you and then connect you when a real person answers. Saved me from getting evicted honestly

0 coins

sounds too good to be true... has anyone else used this?

0 coins

Yep, used it last week after seeing someone mention it here. Got through to an agent who fixed my issue in like 10 minutes. I wasted sooo many hours trying to call before that.

0 coins

wait so how does this work exactly? do they just keep calling for you?

0 coins

Yeah basically they have some system that auto-dials and navigates the phone tree, then when they get a real person they call you. Worked like a charm for me, claimyr.com

You'll prob be waiting another month tbh. The system is sooooo slow. I had to wait 6 weeks after ID verification before I saw a single penny 🤡

The ID.me verification is just step 1. They gotta actually process your claim after that which takes forever. Try calling every day - eventually you'll get through to someone who can help. Or sometimes calling right when they open works.

Tried that - called at 7:58am and still got the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and got disconnected 🤬

try again tomorro. sometimes its just luck of the draw

Have you checked your payment history on the website? Sometimes they process it but don't tell you. Look under "Payment History" instead of just the main dashboard.

0 coins

Yeah checked everything. Nothing showing up in payment history either.

Here's what worked for me after being stuck in the same situation: 1. First, don't just keep checking your account - the status won't magically change. You NEED to talk to a human. 2. Contact your state representative - they can escalate your case. I emailed mine with my claim details (minus SSN/DOB) and they helped. 3. If you're really desperate (like I was), use a service like claimyr.com - they charge a fee but got me through to an agent when nothing else worked. Worth every penny when you're waiting on thousands in benefits. 4. When you do get through, ask specifically for a "payment release" and mention you've already completed ID verification. 5. Document everything - dates, times, reference numbers, agent names. You might need this evidence later. After my ID verification, it still took 3 weeks of doing nothing before I tried these steps. Once I got through to an agent via Claimyr, they released my benefits in 24 hours. Hang in there - the system is terrible but there are ways through it!

Thank you for the detailed advice. I'm gonna try contacting my rep today and if that doesn't work I'll check out that Claimyr thing. At this point I just need my money.

I second the state rep thing. My assembly person's office got my claim fixed in a week when I was stuck for months.

try getting on twitter and @ NYSLabor with ur issue. they randomly respond to some people and can escalate ur case

0 coins

Took me 23 days after ID.me to get paid. Its completely random and makes no sense. NY unemployment is a disaster.

0 coins

23 days seems fast compared to some people i know lmao

0 coins

thats so messed up. i was literally eating ramen for 3 weeks straight

Heres a secret trick: call the general helpline, and when they ask why ur calling say "payment question" not identity verification. That gets u to a different department who can actually help. worked for me!

Will try this tomorrow! Thanks for the tip

listen if ur really desperate email your state senator AND assembly person. Send to both. Include ur name, last 4 of ssn, and phone #. They can escalate. I did this and got paid 2 days later.

The whole system is a joke. Took me 3 months to get my first payment after ID verification. The left hand doesnt know what the right is doing. Good luck 🙄

3 MONTHS?!?!?! How did you survive??

0 coins

it was ruff man. borrowed money from everyone i knew. almost lost my apartment. ny unemployment system is criminal fr.

0 coins

This is why I ended up using claimyr.com when I was in this situation. Couldn't wait 3 months!

0 coins

had same problem, ended up finding out they needed additional documents they never asked for 🤦‍♀️ call and ask if anything else is needed for your claim. sometimes the system doesn't update to tell u

0 coins

That's what I'm worried about but I CANT GET THROUGH to ask anyone!!

0 coins

check ur email and spam folder too. sometimes they send requests there and if u miss them ur claim stays pending forever

i got my money 4 days after id.me verification but my cousin waited 5 weeks. there's literally no rhyme or reason to how they process these.

0 coins

After my id.me was verified they put my account on hold for "further verification" which was never communicated to me. Had to call 46 TIMES to get through and then they fixed it in 5 minutes. the system is designed to make you give up!!!

0 coins

THIS!!! They make it impossible on purpose so people just give up on getting their benefits.

0 coins

truth. I work in customer service (not for unemployment) and this is a known tactic to reduce payouts. make the process so painful people abandon it

CONTACT YOUR STATE ASSEMBLY PERSON!!!!!!! This is literally what they're there for. Mine helped me and my claim was fixed in 8 days.
