NYDOL unemployment claim delayed with no notices - what's going on?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. It's been delayed and I'm not sure why. I've submitted all the required documents and verified my identity, but still nothing. I haven't received any notices from NYDOL either. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what could be causing the hold-up or what I should do next?

Ugh, welcome to the club šŸ™„ I've been waiting for WEEKS with no update. The system is so broken, it's ridiculous!

Weeks? Try months! I've been stuck in limbo since March. This is getting out of hand.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you can get more info if you actually talk to a human.

I've tried, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever.

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

20 bucks? That's a rip-off. The government should make this easier for free!

I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. It actually worked for me. Got through in about 2 hours instead of days of trying.

How does it know when a real person picks up?

Not sure about the tech details, but when I got the call, there was a real person on the line ready to help.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research: 1. High volume: NYDOL is still dealing with a backlog from the pandemic. 2. Verification issues: Sometimes there's a mismatch in the info you provided vs. what they have on file. 3. Employer disputes: Your former employer might be contesting the claim. 4. System glitches: Their computer system is outdated and sometimes causes delays. 5. Additional review: Some claims get flagged for manual review, which takes longer. What you can do: • Double-check all your info in your online account • Upload any additional documents that might help your case • Keep certifying weekly, even if you haven't received benefits yet • Try contacting your local state representative - they can sometimes help • Keep a record of all your attempts to contact NYDOL Hang in there, OP. It's frustrating, but most claims do get resolved eventually.

This should be pinned to the top of the subreddit. So much good info here!

I heard they're updating the system next month. Might cause more delays but hopefully it'll make things faster in the long run.

Source? I haven't seen anything about this.

My bad, I might be thinking of a different state. I'll try to find where I read that.

This is why we need UBI. The whole unemployment system is a joke.

Preach! šŸ™Œ UBI would solve so many problems.

It's not a handout, it's a safety net. But that's a whole other discussion...
