NYDOL system won't accept correct maiden name for direct deposit update - Help!
I'm having trouble updating my direct deposit info. The system keeps saying I'm entering the wrong maiden name, but I know it's correct. Has anyone else run into this issue? I've got my birth certificate and marriage license ready to prove my name, but I can't even get past this screen to talk to someone. Any advice on what to do next?

Ugh, I had the same problem last month! It's so frustrating when the system doesn't recognize your info. Have you tried calling their helpline? It took me forever to get through, but they were able to update it manually for me.

•I've been trying to call for days, but the line is always busy. How long did you have to wait on hold?

•Honestly, it was a nightmare. I was on hold for like 3 hours before I got through. But once I did, the rep was pretty helpful. Maybe try calling right when they open?

•3 hours?! That's insane. There's gotta be a better way to handle this stuff. The whole system is broken 😤

I found a way to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•I've used it twice now. Worked both times. Beats sitting on hold all day!

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes the system gets wonky with saved info. Also, make sure you're using the exact name that's on your social security card. Even a missing middle initial can mess things up.

This happened to me too! Turns out my ex-husband had changed some of my info when he filed for unemployment (don't ask, it's a long story 🙄). I had to go in person to the office to get it sorted out. Bring ALL your documents if you do this.

•Wow, that's crazy! I hope I don't have to go in person, the nearest office is like 2 hours away from me. But I'll keep it in mind as a last resort. Thanks!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all your info: Make sure you're entering everything EXACTLY as it appears on your official documents. 2. Try a different browser: Sometimes it's just a technical glitch. 3. Call the helpline: Yes, it sucks, but it's often the only way. Try early morning or late afternoon for shorter wait times. 4. Use the online chat if available: Sometimes faster than calling. 5. Contact your local representative: They can often help push things through. 6. As a last resort, visit an office in person: Bring ALL your documents. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating but you'll get through eventually. Good luck!

•This is great advice! I'd add one more thing - document EVERYTHING. Every call, every attempt, names of reps you talk to. It might come in handy later.
