NYDOL: Can't change direct deposit - mother's maiden name doesn't match records. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble changing my direct deposit info. When I try to update it, the system says the mother's maiden name I'm entering doesn't match their records. Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas on how to fix it? I really need to update my banking info ASAP.

I found a way to solve direct deposit update issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjerWCuCRms

Ugh, I had the same issue last month. It's so frustrating when you can't even access your own account! Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes the online system is just broken af 🙄

I've been trying to call for days but can't get through. It's like they don't want us to update our info or something 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.

This happened to me too! Turns out they had my mom's maiden name spelled wrong in their system. When I finally got through to someone, they were able to update it for me. Keep trying to call, it's the only way to fix it unfortunately.

Have you tried resetting your account? Sometimes that can help with these weird glitches. Just go to the login page and click 'Forgot Password' - it might prompt you to re-enter all your info and could solve the problem.

I didn't think of that! I'll give it a try, thanks for the suggestion.

Be careful with this tho. I tried it once and got locked out of my account for a week 😫

Hey guys, I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without having to pay extra 😡

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically it uses an automated system to navigate the phone tree and wait on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone. Super simple!

This whole system is a joke. They make it so hard to do anything, it's like they want us to give up. I've been trying to fix an issue with my claim for MONTHS. Solidarity to everyone dealing with this nonsense 💪

Okay, let's break this down. Here's what you need to do to resolve this issue: 1. Double-check the spelling of your mother's maiden name. Sometimes it's a simple typo that's causing the problem. 2. If you're sure the spelling is correct, you'll need to speak with a representative. Try calling first thing in the morning when they open. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, consider visiting a local office in person if possible. Bring ID and any relevant documents. 4. While on the phone or in person, ask them to verify ALL your security questions and answers. Sometimes the issue is with a different security question, not just the maiden name. 5. Request that they update your security info in the system. Make sure to get a confirmation number or email for the change. 6. After they've updated your info, wait 24-48 hours before trying to change your direct deposit info online again. 7. If you're still having issues after this, ask for a supervisor or to escalate your case. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! And document everything - dates you called, who you spoke to, what they said. Good luck!

This should be pinned to the top of the subreddit tbh. So many people have this issue!

Great advice! I'd add: if you go in person, go EARLY. The lines get crazy long.

have u tried turning it off and on again? 🤣🤣🤣 jk jk... but for real, sometimes logging out, clearing your browser cache, and trying again can help with weird website glitches.

I don't have a solution, but I just wanted to say hang in there, OP. We're all in the same boat, trying to navigate these choppy waters. You'll get it sorted out eventually! 🚢
