NYDOL Direct Deposit: Mother's Maiden Name Keeps Getting Rejected, Help!
I'm having trouble with my direct deposit information. When I try to enter my mother's maiden name, the system keeps saying it's incorrect. I know for sure that's her maiden name, but I've been locked out multiple times for entering it wrong. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to fix it without getting locked out again?

Ugh, I've been there. The system is so frustrating sometimes! Have you tried calling them directly? Maybe there's a typo in their records.

ā¢I'm worried about getting locked out again if I try too many times. But yeah, calling might be the best option at this point.

ā¢Calling is a nightmare tho. I was on hold for 3 hours last time I tried š«

I had a similar issue. Turns out they had my mom's name spelled wrong in their system. Took forever to get it fixed, but here's what worked for me: ⢠Call customer service (I know, it sucks) ⢠Ask them to verify ALL your information ⢠Have them read back your mom's maiden name ⢠If it's wrong, ask them to update it ⢠Request a temporary password reset ⢠Log in with the temp password and update your security questions Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more details.

ā¢Wow, thank you so much for the detailed steps! I'll definitely try this. Did you have to provide any extra documentation to prove the correct spelling?

ā¢Nah, they didn't ask for any extra docs. Just be prepared to answer other security questions to verify your identity. Good luck!

This happened to me too! I swear the system is designed to make us fail. 𤔠I ended up having to go to the office in person to sort it out. Took a whole day off work, but at least it's fixed now.

ā¢A whole day?! That's ridiculous. They really need to get their act together.

ā¢Tell me about it. But hey, at least I got it sorted. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do š¤·āāļø

Hey guys, I found a method to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

ā¢20 bucks tho? Idk if its worth it...

ā¢For me it was. Time is money, and I wasted way more than $20 worth of time trying to get through on my own.

have you tried turning it off and on again? š jk jk. but seriously, maybe try clearing your browser cache or using a different device? sometimes these systems are just buggy af

Oof, sounds like you're in quite the pickle. I've been dealing with unemployment issues for months now, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride. š¢ Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under these agencies' butts.

I work in IT (not for the unemployment office tho) and I can tell you these legacy systems are a NIGHTMARE. They probably have some weird character limit or don't accept special characters in the maiden name field. Try entering it in all caps with no spaces or punctuation. You'd be surprised how often that works.

ā¢Oh wow, I never would have thought of that. I'll give it a shot! Thanks for the insider tip!

ā¢No prob! Let me know if it works. If not, I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve.

I had the exact same issue last month! It's so frustrating when you know you're entering the right information but the system keeps rejecting it. What finally worked for me was a combination of a few things: 1. First, I tried entering the maiden name exactly as it appears on old documents (birth certificate, etc.) - sometimes there are subtle spelling differences we don't remember 2. I also cleared my browser cache and cookies completely before trying again 3. Most importantly, I called the technical support line (not the regular claims line) and they were able to see that there was actually a glitch in my account that was causing the security questions to not update properly The tech support number is different from the main line and usually has shorter wait times. They were able to reset something on their end and I was able to get back in. Don't give up - this is definitely fixable! šŖ

ā¢This is super helpful! I had no idea there was a separate tech support line. Do you happen to remember what number you called? I've been calling the main claims line and getting nowhere fast. Also, when you say "exactly as it appears on old documents" - did you have to dig out your mom's birth certificate or something? Thanks for giving me hope that this is actually fixable! š

ā¢@Nasira Ibanez This is exactly what I needed to hear! I ve'been banging my head against the wall with this. Do you happen to remember the tech support number? And yeah, I m'definitely going to dig through some old paperwork to see if there s'a spelling variation I m'missing. Sometimes parents change how they spell things over the years or there might be a hyphen I forgot about. Really appreciate you sharing what worked for you - gives me a game plan to follow! š

Oh my gosh, I'm dealing with this EXACT same issue right now! š¤ It's so maddening when you KNOW you're entering the right information but the system keeps telling you it's wrong. I've been locked out twice already and I'm terrified to try again. @Nasira Ibanez your comment about the tech support line is a game changer - I had no idea that existed! And the tip about checking old documents is brilliant. My mom got married in the 70s and I'm wondering if there might be some variation in how her maiden name was recorded back then vs what I remember. @Amina Diop the IT perspective is super helpful too. These old government systems are probably held together with digital duct tape at this point š Has anyone else had success with the "all caps, no spaces" approach? I'm willing to try anything at this point before I attempt calling again. This whole situation is just adding so much stress to an already stressful unemployment situation!
