NY unemployment payment delayed due to holiday - will it arrive tomorrow?
Hi everyone, just wondering if NY unemployment payments will go out tomorrow as scheduled or if they'll be delayed because of today's holiday? My mom relies on her weekly benefits and gets nervous when there's any change to the payment schedule. Has anyone received official info from NYSDOL about this? Thanks!

payments always get delayed when there's a bank holiday. probably come wednesday or thursday instead

According to the NYSDOL website, payments are typically delayed by one business day following a federal holiday. So if you normally receive payment on Tuesdays, you'll likely see it on Wednesday this week. The actual certification process is unaffected - just the bank processing that gets pushed back.

my payment ALWAYS gets messed up on holiday weeks idk why but for some reason mine takes an extra 2-3 days every single time there's a holiday it's SO ANNOYING

I had this exact problem last holiday and couldn't get a straight answer when I called NYSDOL - spent HOURS on hold and got disconnected twice. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They explained that holiday payments are always processed the next business day, so expect it Wednesday. Is it just me or does the NYSDOL website never actually tell you ANYTHING useful about these delays?? I've been on unemployment for 4 months now and EVERY holiday this happens and EVERY time I have to scramble to figure out when money will arrive. Why can't they just put a big banner on the homepage that says "PAYMENTS DELAYED DUE TO HOLIDAY"??? So frustrating!!!!

Holiday delays should still just be the standard one business day for most people, assuming there are no other issues with your claim.

•It's unlikely she received an actual deposit today since banks don't process ACH transfers on federal holidays. She might have received a pending notification that will clear tomorrow, or perhaps she's referring to a payment that was processed before the holiday but she only noticed today.
