NY unemployment making me certify daily instead of weekly - system glitch?
Is anyone else having to certify their NY unemployment claim EVERY DAY this week? Normally I just do it once a week on Sundays, but since Monday the system keeps telling me I need to certify again the next day. I've already done it 5 days in a row now! Called the helpline twice but can't get through to anyone. Is this some kind of new requirement or is the system messed up? Really worried my benefits might get delayed because of this.

Omg yes!!! I thought it was just me! Been certifying every single day since Tuesday. The website keeps saying my certification is complete but then the next day it's asking me to do it all over again. Super frustrating. I think it's definitely a glitch in their system.

Did you get any kind of email about this? I'm worried they'll think I'm trying to commit fraud or something by certifying multiple times!

This happened to me 2 weeks ago!! Its probly a glitch but u should keep doing it evry day like it says until they fix it. I tried skipping a day and then got a message saying i missed my certification window and had to call. Complete nightmare.

Thanks for the warning. I'll keep doing it daily then. So frustrating though!

This is definitely a system glitch. NYSDOL occasionally has these issues when they're updating their systems. A few important points:\n\n1. Take screenshots of each daily certification you complete\n2. Continue certifying daily as prompted until the system returns to normal\n3. Your payments should still process correctly, but might be grouped together\n4. This typically resolves within 7-10 days\n\nI experienced this last year and eventually received a message acknowledging the error. You're not doing anything wrong by following the system prompts.

Thank you! That's really helpful - I'll start taking screenshots. Do you know if they'll still pay on the regular schedule? I'm worried about a delay.

In my experience, they maintained the regular payment schedule, but some people reported a 1-2 day delay. The important thing is that you'll eventually receive all entitled benefits. The system is just processing your certifications oddly right now.

same here but i just stopped doing it after day 3. figuring its not my problem if their system is broken lol. they can sort it out.

This approach could potentially cause problems with your claim. The system records might show you as not completing required certifications, which could trigger payment delays or even a temporary hold on your claim. It's always better to follow the system prompts even when they seem unusual.

If you're certifying daily but can't reach anyone by phone to explain what's happening, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I had this exact issue last month and spent days trying to reach a human at unemployment. Claimyr got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who confirmed it was a glitch and fixed it on their end. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE\n\nThe agent told me they're overwhelmed with calls about this issue right now, which is why nobody can get through the normal way.

Never heard of this service - does it actually work? I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point.

Yeah, it worked surprisingly well for me. The agent I talked to said they're getting a lot of calls about this certification glitch specifically. She was able to note my account that I was experiencing the system error and put in a ticket to fix it. Went back to normal weekly certifications after that.

TYPICAL NY UNEMPLOYMENT NONSENSE!!! They can't ever get ANYTHING right! Last year they sent me an overpayment notice for $2,700 because THEIR system messed up, then took 4 MONTHS to fix it!!! Now they're making everyone certify daily?? WHO RUNS THIS PLACE?!?

For real tho. My cousin works for the state (not unemployment) and she says they're using computer systems from like 1992 that keep breaking down. No wonder nothing works right

I think this might be related to the system maintenance they mentioned in an email last week. They said there would be

UPDATE: NYSDOL just posted about this on their Twitter account. They're confirming it's a system glitch affecting approximately 12% of claimants. They're asking everyone to:\n\n1. Continue certifying as prompted by the system\n2. Keep a record of all certifications\n3. Expect the issue to be resolved by April 24th\n\nThey stated that all benefits will be paid correctly despite the daily certification requests. No need to call unless you experience other issues with your claim.

Thank you so much for sharing this! This is a huge relief. I don't use Twitter so I would've never seen this update.

I'm actually getting worried now because I just got an email saying my certification was incomplete and I might lose this week's benefits! Anyone else get this? This is so stressful!

That email is likely automated and doesn't account for the current system glitch. Continue certifying daily as prompted, but if you want to resolve this quickly, you'll need to speak with an agent who can place a note on your account about the system error. Unfortunately, phone lines are extremely busy because of this widespread issue.

I got that same scary email last month during this glitch. When I finally talked to someone, they said to ignore it - it's automatically generated and doesn't know about the system problems. Your benefits should still process correctly.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I feel much better knowing I'm not alone with this weird daily certification thing. I'll keep certifying daily and documenting everything until they fix it. I'll try to get through on the phone too, and might check out that Claimyr service if I keep hitting dead ends. Really appreciate all the advice!
