NY unemployment login page completely broken for 3 days straight

Been trying to log into my ny unemployment account since Tuesday morning and keep getting errors. First it was saying 'server timeout' then it switched to 'account not recognized' and now it's just a blank white screen after I enter my info. Called the hotline 17 times and can't get through to anyone. Anyone else having this problem? My payment was supposed to hit on Wednesday and I've got rent due next week. Getting really worried because I can't even check my claim status now.

SAME HERE!!! Been trying since Monday afternoon. It keeps saying my password is incorrect but I KNOW it's right. Then when I try to reset it says my email isn't in the system?? How is that possible when I've been collecting for 2 months now! This is such bs.

Have you tried using a different browser? Sometimes that works for me when the site is acting up.

Tried Chrome, Firefox, even my phone. Same issue everywere. Even cleared all my cookies and cache.

I tried different browsers too, no luck. Tried on my laptop and phone. Same problems.

After struggling for days with the same login issues, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to a real unemployment agent! I was skeptical at first but it saved me HOURS of frustration. They called the unemployment office, waited on hold, then called me when they had an agent on the line. The agent fixed my login issue right away and now I can access my account again. Seriously, talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast - check out this video that explains how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

sounds like an advertisement lol. does this actually work?

0 coins

It's not an ad I swear! I was desperate after trying to call for 3 days straight. They just connect you with a real person at unemployment. Saved me from having a complete meltdown tbh

0 coins

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

0 coins

No catch - they just call and wait on hold instead of you. When they get someone, they connect you. Took like 45 mins instead of me calling for days. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent.

hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

0 coins

They don't ask for any claim info or anything weird. They literally just make the phone call for you and connect you when there's a human. Then you talk directly to the agent yourself.

The entire system is down for maintenance according to their Twitter. They said it would be back up yesterday afternoon but obvs thats not happening 🤡

I got through on the phone after calling 43 times (not exaggerating). The rep told me they're having a major system update and lots of accounts are getting flagged as suspicious. She had to manually verify my identity and reset my account. Try calling right when they open at 8am.

43 times?!? I don't have the patience for that. I'd rather just starve lol

I tried calling at 8am sharp today but just got the automated message saying high call volume. Did you use any special number or trick to get through?

Honestly just pure luck and stubbornness. But check out that claimyr thing someone mentioned above - my friend used it last month when she had payment issues.

This happens every few months. The system is running on technology from like 1985 🤣 Last time this happened to me I had to wait 3 weeks for them to fix it and then they backdated my payments. The worst part is they never communicate whats happening.

3 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long! My landlord doesn't accept "the unemployment website is down" as payment for rent 😭

I know it sucks. I had to borrow money from family last time. Such a broken system.

Here's what I know from working with NY unemployment issues for the past several years: The system is experiencing a major database synchronization error right now. This happens periodically, especially when they do security updates. Your account is still there and your money is still being processed, but the login authentication system can't properly connect to the account database. If you absolutely need to get in ASAP, you have these options: 1. Keep calling the main number, but use this technique: call, if you get the busy signal, hang up and immediately redial. Repeat 20-30 times in a row. This sometimes works because their phone system has brief windows where new calls can get in. 2. Try logging in between 2-4am when server load is lower. 3. Use a service like claimyr.com that will wait on hold for you and connect you directly with an agent when they get through. This is honestly the best option if you need immediate help. 4. Visit a physical career center if you're near one and ask for direct assistance. Don't panic about your benefits - even if you can't log in, the system is still processing payments. This is a frontend issue, not a payment processing issue in most cases.

This is SUPER helpful, thank you. I might try that claimyr site since I'm desperate to talk to someone. Will update if I get through.

Can confirm all of this. I work in IT and the NY unemployment system is held together with duct tape and prayers at this point. The 2-4am login trick sometimes works but not always.

Its probably a cyberattack. My friend works in state gov (not unemployment) and she said theres been multiple ransomware attacks on diferent agencies lately. They don't announce it to avoid panic.

Great, now I gotta worry about identity theft on top of not getting my money? 😩

I fixed mine by completely logging out, clearing browser history/cookies/cache, restarting my computer, then waiting about an hour before trying again. Not sure which part actually fixed it but it finally worked.

Just tried this exact process and still getting the white screen after login. Ughhh

0 coins

Damn, sorry to hear that. Must be different issues for different accounts.

My cousin had this happen and it turned out someone had tried to access his account from another state, so the system locked it down. Had to call and verify identity. Took forever to get through though.

if u have Twitter, try messaging @nyslabor directly. Sometimes they respond and can help that way. worth a shot.

Good idea, just sent them a DM. Fingers crossed they respond!

this is why im so DONE with ny unemployment. every time theres a minor update the whole system crashes for days. meanwhile we have bills to pay and they dont care AT ALL.

0 coins

FOR REAL!! And then they act like we're the problem when we complain 🙄

0 coins

Protip: If you're near a NY Career Center, go in person. They can access the system differently and help reset your account. I did this last year when I had similar issues and they fixed it in 20 minutes.

Try this temporary workaround: go to the password reset page first, but don't actually reset. Then go back to the main page and try logging in. Worked for me just now!

0 coins

omg this actually worked?!? thank you!!!!

0 coins

Just tried it and still got the blank screen :( Thanks for the suggestion though

The WORST part is you can't even talk to someone about it because you can't get past their stupid phone system 😡 I've been dealing with NY unemployment for years and it never gets better. The system is designed to make you give up.

Someone earlier mentioned using claimyr.com to get through the phone lines. Might be worth checking out if you're desperate.

I'm dealing with the exact same issue! Been locked out since Tuesday as well. The frustrating thing is I have my weekly certification due tomorrow and I can't even access it. Has anyone tried contacting their local assembly member or senator's office? Sometimes they can help cut through the bureaucracy when state agencies aren't responding. I'm about to try that route since I can't afford to wait weeks for this to get resolved.

That's actually a really smart idea! I never thought about contacting my assembly member. Do you just call their office and explain the situation? I'm in the same boat with certification due soon and getting really panicked about missing it. Let me know how it goes if you try that route!
