NY unemployment last day to claim for this week - is it July 10th or 11th?

I'm confused about the final certification day this week. With the system maintenance coming up, will we still be able to claim on the 11th? Or is tomorrow (the 10th) the absolute last day to claim before it's done for this cycle? Don't want to miss my payment because I got the date wrong. Has anyone received official info about this? Thanks in advance!

The last day to claim is ALWAYS Sunday technically, but you can certify until Friday the following week if you miss it. But with this maintenance window thing they announced, I think tomorrow (10th) is the cutoff. That's what I'm doing anyway, not taking chances!!

Thanks! I just wasn't sure if the maintenance affected the normal schedule. Gonna do mine tomorrow then to be safe.

The system working now doesn't address OP's question about the last day to certify before the maintenance period begins.

According to the NYSDOL website, the final day to certify for this week's benefits is July 10th before 11:59 PM due to the scheduled system maintenance. The system will be down from July 11th through July 13th for upgrades. All certifications must be completed before this maintenance window begins, or you'll need to wait until the system is back online on July 14th. If you wait until after maintenance, your payment will likely be delayed by 3-5 business days beyond the normal processing time.

I tried calling to ask this exact question and was on hold for almost 2 hours before giving up. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed the July 10th deadline and explained that missing it would delay payment by up to a week. Their video demo shows how it works if anyone else needs to get specific answers: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Does that really work? I've been trying to reach someone for 3 days about my back payments...

@anxious_about_payment Yes, it definitely worked for me. I was skeptical at first but was desperate after wasting hours on hold. Got connected to an actual NYSDOL agent who clarified everything about the maintenance period and my specific claim questions.

just to be clear... we certify for LAST week, right? not the current week we're in now? i always get confused by this

Correct, you certify for the previous week (July 3-9). You're reporting that you were unemployed during that period and eligible for benefits.

I'm panicking because I'm out of town and might not have good internet tomorrow!! Will they make exceptions if the system is down? My benefits are the only income I have right now and I can't miss a payment!!

You can certify by phone too using Tel-Service at 888-581-5812. It's available 24/7, so even with spotty internet you should be able to call and complete your certification before the deadline.

This maintenence stuff is SO ANNOYING. They always schedule it right when people need the system most and never give enough warning. I bet they'll extend the deadline but won't tell anyone until the last minute like always!!!!

While it can be frustrating, the NYSDOL announced this maintenance window two weeks ago through email notifications and on their social media channels. The upgrades are actually intended to improve claim processing times and reduce payment delays in the future.

Thanks everyone for the clear answers! I'm going to certify today just to be safe. Good to know about the phone option too as a backup.
