Confused about the final day to claim ny unemployment benefits before expiration
Really confused about when my benefits are actually ending. I heard they're stopping on December 12th, but I'm not sure if I claim on the 12th for the final time or if December 5th is actually my last day to certify? Has anyone gotten clear information on this? I'm trying to budget for the holidays and need to know if I'll be getting that final payment or not. The website is super confusing and I've been trying to call for days with no luck. This is stressing me out!

You need to claim for the week ending December 11th. The last day you can certify would be December 18th. Benefits for the week ending December 12th will be the last one. Good luck!

•I'm pretty sure, but NY unemployment is notorious for giving different answers to everyone. Best to call and confirm yourself.

I was in the same boat last month, tearing my hair out trying to reach someone! Finally tried this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me a callback from a live agent within an hour. Best money I ever spent to finally get my benefits question answered. They have a video showing how it works too: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•This sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Did they actually solve your problem?

•Yeah it really worked! They basically call DOL for you, stay on hold, then call you when they get a live agent. Saved me hours of hold time and frustration. My issue got resolved in one call after weeks of trying myself.

•I get the skepticism! Been there with other stuff that didn't work. But I literally just got off the phone with them yesterday - got my backpay issue fixed after 3 weeks of trying on my own. Worth checking out claimyr.com if you're desperate like I was.

•wait I've seriously been on hold for TWO DAYS trying to get someone. Does this actually get you through?

•100% did for me. Their system just stays on hold so you don't have to. When a real person picks up, they connect you. Mine took about 45 mins but WAY better than the 3+ hours I was spending every day trying myself.

Yall the DOL website clearly says the last week you can claim for is the week ending December 11. You claim for that week on December 12-18. THAT is your last payment. They ain't cutting you off mid-week.

•I don't see that anywhere on the site. Can you share a link?

•It's on their FAQ page but tbh their site is a nightmare to navigate. Just call them if ur really unsure

Look. The benefit week runs Sunday-Saturday. You certify for the PREVIOUS week. So if the program ends on the 12th (a Sunday), then the last week you can claim for is Dec 5-11. You'll certify for that week starting on the 12th. Hope that makes sense!

Here's what I know for sure about NY unemployment ending dates: The last payable week is the one ending December 11th (Saturday). You'll certify for this week starting December 12th (Sunday) through December 18th (Saturday). The confusion comes because you certify AFTER the week has already passed. So even though the program "ends" on the 12th, you're still able to claim for that final week (the week before it ended). I spent hours researching this and finally got through to a rep using claimyr.com who confirmed all this. They were super helpful and got me connected to someone who explained everything clearly. If you're still confused, I'd recommend using their service since trying to call directly is almost impossible these days. Also, make sure you keep certifying weekly until the very end, even if you're working part-time. You might still be eligible for partial benefits, and it keeps your claim active in case they extend the programs again (though that looks unlikely now).

Anyone else just get an email about this? Mine said last payable week is the one ending on the 11th, and we certify for that starting on the 12th like normal.

•That's not right. The official date is the 11th. Call back and talk to someone else.

Just DONT MISS your last certification whatever it is!! I missed mine when benefits ended last time and had to go through hell to get that final payment. The system is not forgiving at all.

To answer your question: Yes, you'll claim on Sunday the 12th for the week ending Saturday the 11th. That's your final week of benefits. Don't forget to certify!

I was stressing about this exact same thing and finally used this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual human at unemployment. They confirmed the last payable week is the one ending Dec 11th. You certify for it on Dec 12th like normal. Their website really helped me figure it out! claimyr.com

I think the confusion is that benefits END on the 12th, but that doesn't mean you don't get to certify for the week before. You certify on the 12th-18th for the week of Dec 5-11, which is the last payable week.
