Is the NYS Department of Labor unemployment office open on Veterans Day?
Quick question - I need to submit some paperwork for my appeal but I'm not sure if the NYS Department of Labor offices are open today for Veterans Day? I know it's a federal holiday but wasn't sure about state offices. My appeal deadline is coming up soon and I don't want to miss it. Anyone know their holiday schedule?

NYS Department of Labor offices are closed on Veterans Day since it's a state holiday. However, you can still file your appeal online through the my.ny.gov portal - that system is available 24/7. Just make sure you have all your documentation ready to upload.

yeah they're definitely closed today, learned that the hard way when I drove there last veterans day lol. but like the other person said you can do most stuff online now anyway

For appeals, you want to make sure you get confirmation that it was received before the deadline. When you submit online, print out the confirmation page or screenshot it. The system will give you a confirmation number - keep that safe. I had an issue once where they claimed they never got my appeal even though I submitted it on time.

•It took about 6 weeks for them to schedule my hearing, but that was during peak season. Yours might be faster since it's not summer when everyone's filing.

If you're having trouble reaching them about your appeal or need to speak to someone urgently, I used a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to an actual NYS Department of Labor representative. Just a heads up that if your appeal deadline falls on a holiday or weekend, you usually get until the next business day. But don't quote me on that - double check the fine print on your notice.
