Finally got through to NY unemployment - keep trying!

Congrats! what time of day did you call? Been trying for 2 weeks an keep getting the 'we are experiencing high call volume' message. My phone is about to go through the window 😡

Look at mr lucky over here getting through on the phone. Ive been trying since October! OCTOBER! Its almost MAY! Getting real tired of this system that doesnt work for the people who need it most.

Try calling from a different phone number. I swear they block numbers that call too much. When I switched to my wife's phone I got through first try!

I don't think the regular phone lines work anymore. I've been calling the appeals department and then asking to be transferred and that worked twice for me! Try 1-800-833-3000 and then just apologize and say you need regular UI help.

Pro tip: Tell the automated system you want to file a new claim even if you don't. You'll get through to a human much faster, and then just explain your actual situation when you get someone.

i gave up on calling completely. i just emailed my state senator's office and they got back to me in 2 days and fixed everything. try that route if ur desperate.

I'm sorry but this post feels like it was written by someone who works at NY unemployment lol. "Just keep calling" isn't helpful advice when the system is literally designed to prevent people from getting benefits. The whole system needs to be burned down and rebuilt.

U guys know that most claims are being automatically pushed thru the system right? Unless you have a specific issue that needs human intervention, u should just wait. The backlog is insane and calling 100 times just makes it worse for everyone.
