Can't certify for NY unemployment benefits after receiving approval email and text
So I just got an email and text saying I'm good to go for certifying my unemployment benefits. But when I logged into the system today, there's no option to actually certify. Anyone know if this is normal? Is it because of the waiting week or something? I'm confused about what to do next.

I found a way to solve unemployment certification system issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR5K5Tqxp1g

Yep, sounds like you're still in the waiting week. It's annoying but pretty standard. Give it another week and you should be able to certify then. The system can be slow to update sometimes.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it honestly worked for me. Waited about 2 hours, but didn't have to sit by my phone the whole time. Worth it to finally get answers.

The waiting week is such bs. Why make us wait when we need the money now? š¤¬

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes the online system glitches and you need to talk to a real person to sort it out.

This happened to me too. Turns out there was an issue with my claim that wasn't visible online. Had to call and talk to an agent to fix it. Keep trying to get through on the phone!

ā¢Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. How long did it take you to finally reach someone?

ā¢Took me about a week of trying. Early mornings seemed to work best. Hang in there!

Here's what you need to know about certifying for NY unemployment benefits: ā¢ The waiting week is real. It's usually the first week after you're approved. ā¢ Sometimes the system takes a few days to update after you get the approval message. ā¢ If you still can't certify after a full week, there might be an issue with your claim. ā¢ Try logging out and back in, or use a different browser. Sometimes it's just a technical glitch. ā¢ If all else fails, you'll need to call. I know it's a pain, but it's often the only way to resolve issues. ā¢ Consider using a service like claimyr.com to help you get through on the phone. It costs a bit, but can save you hours of frustration. Hope this helps! The NY unemployment system can be a real headache, but hang in there. šŖ

Anyone else feel like they need a PhD to navigate this system? š¤£

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important emails from ny unemployment end up there.

PROTIP: Screenshot everything! Every email, text, and page on the website. You never know when you'll need proof of something later.
