EDD not showing certification weeks after initial payment - stuck for 2 weeks with no weeks available

I'm really confused about my unemployment certification schedule. I finally got approved for benefits after waiting almost a month, and I received payment for my first week of certification. But now I've been waiting for over 2 weeks and there are NO available weeks showing up for me to certify! My UI Online dashboard just says "No Weeks Available" under the certify section. I thought certification was supposed to happen every 2 weeks? Has anyone experienced this weird gap between their first payment and being able to certify again? I'm getting worried because bills are piling up, and I don't know if this is a glitch or if I'm supposed to do something else to trigger the certification option. I've checked my inbox for notifications and there's nothing explaining the delay.

did u check ur claim status page to see if maybe ur claim is under review? sometimes EDD puts a hold on things after first payment to verify stuff. or maybe u have an interview scheduled? check ur inbox again bc sometimes notifications dont show up in the main area

I checked everywhere - claim status just says "Active" and no interview is scheduled. My inbox is completely empty except for the original approval notice. It's like EDD just forgot about me after the first payment!

This actually happens sometimes with new claims. EDD's system is supposed to automatically generate certification weeks every two weeks, but occasionally there's a glitch after the first certification where the system doesn't properly schedule your next certification period. A couple of things to check: 1. Look at your claim summary and see what the "Benefit Year" dates are. Make sure your claim is still active. 2. Check if there's a "Reopen Claim" button anywhere on your UI Online homepage. If your claim accidentally went inactive, you'll need to reopen it. 3. Most importantly, you need to contact EDD directly. This is a technical issue they'll need to fix on their end. The certification weeks won't just appear on their own if it's a system error.

Thank you! My benefit year shows active through May 2026, but I don't see any "Reopen Claim" button. I'm going to try calling tomorrow, but I know I'll probably be on hold forever. Is there a specific department I should ask for?

I HATE when this happens! Same exact thing happened to me last year and it took FIVE WEEKS to get fixed!!! EDD is the WORST with their technical glitches!!! I called about 60 times before getting through and then they had to transfer me THREE TIMES before someone could help! Good luck!!!

Oh no, that's terrifying! I can't go five weeks without payment. Did they eventually backpay you for all those weeks?

Yes they did backpay eventually but it was a NIGHTMARE!!! Had to borrow money from family while waiting. Make sure u document EVERYTHING and keep calling!!!

This seems like what happened to my cousin back in January. They had him certified for first week, paid him, then nothing for almost 3 weeks. Turned out they flagged his account for an eligibility review but didn't notify him properly. Have you been checking your physical mail too? Sometimes they send letters instead of online notices.

I haven't received anything in the mail either! How did your cousin resolve it? Did he have to do something specific when he called?

He kept calling until someone helpful answered. They had to manually release his certification weeks. The system had them but wasn't showing them to him for some reason. The EDD person said it happens sometimes with new claims because of all their different verification systems not communicating right.

I had a similar issue earlier this year and found a solution that might help. Try using Claimyr to reach an EDD representative quickly. I was struggling to get through for days, then used their service and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. The agent was able to manually trigger my certification weeks that were missing from the system. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km In my case, the agent explained that there was a flag on my account that wasn't visible to me but was preventing the system from generating new certification weeks. Once they removed it, everything went back to normal.

Does this actually work? Sounds too good to be true with how impossible EDD is to reach.

Thank you - I hadn't heard of this before. I'll try calling on my own first thing tomorrow, but if I can't get through, I might try this service. At this point, I just need to talk to someone who can tell me what's going on with my claim!

One more thing to try before you start calling: log out completely from UI Online, clear your browser cache and cookies, then log back in. Sometimes the UI Online system has display issues where it's not showing certification weeks that are actually available. If that doesn't work, then definitely call EDD as others have suggested. When you do reach someone, ask them to check these specific things: 1. If there's a "stop payment alert" on your account 2. If your identity verification is fully processed 3. If there's a pending eligibility interview that hasn't been scheduled yet 4. If there's a technical issue with your certification schedule And yes, don't worry - if it's an EDD error, you'll get backpaid for any weeks you were eligible but unable to certify for.

I just tried logging out, clearing cache, and logging back in - sadly still showing no weeks available. I'm definitely going to call tomorrow and ask about those specific things. Thank you for the detailed advice!

any chance u worked or had income during the first week u certified for? sometimes if u report income it triggers manual review n delays next certification

No, I didn't report any income. I've been completely unemployed since my layoff in April. That's what makes this so confusing!

Just to update everyone - I finally got through to EDD yesterday afternoon using the Claimyr service that someone mentioned. It actually worked! Got connected to a specialist in about 30 minutes. Turns out there was a weird flag on my account from my previous employer contesting my claim even though I was approved. The EDD rep removed the flag and manually released my certification weeks. I was able to certify for the past two weeks immediately, and she said my regular certification schedule should be normal going forward (every two weeks). For anyone having this issue - definitely call and speak to a tier 2 specialist if possible. Regular agents may not see what's causing the problem.
