EDD email saying certify but no weeks available in UI Online - completely stuck

I got this weird email from EDD yesterday saying I need to certify for benefits, but when I logged into UI Online there are literally NO weeks available for me to certify! The dashboard is completely empty where it normally shows certification weeks. I double-checked my claim status and it says 'active' with a benefit year ending in October 2025, so my claim definitely exists. I've refreshed the page like 20 times and tried logging in from my phone but still nothing shows up. Has anyone else dealt with this glitch? Not sure if I should wait a few days or if there's something specific I need to do. Really need this money soon and I'm freaking out that I'll miss my certification window!

Thanks for responding! It's been almost 2 days now though and still nothing. Did you do anything special to make yours appear or literally just wait?

This is actually a common issue that happens when there's a timing mismatch between the automatic email system and your UI Online account updates. Here are a few things to check: 1. Make sure you're looking at the correct section - sometimes people look at "Certification Status" instead of scrolling down to "Weeks Available to Certify" 2. If your benefit year is ending soon, the system might be transitioning your claim status 3. There might be a pending eligibility interview or issue that's preventing certification weeks from appearing If it's been more than 3 days since you received the email, you should definitely contact EDD directly. The certification window is usually 14 days, so you still have time.

Thanks for the detailed info! I checked everywhere on the page and definitely no weeks showing up anywhere. My benefit year actually just started 2 months ago, so that's not it. I guess I need to call them but I've been trying for days and can't get through...

OMG THE EDD SYSTEM IS SUCH GARBAGE!!! This EXACT thing happened to me in January and I couldn't certify for THREE WEEKS!! Then they had the NERVE to say I was "late" certifying when they finally fixed it!!! 🤬 I spent HOURS calling that stupid number only to be told "we're experiencing high call volume" EVERY SINGLE TIME!! The whole system is designed to make people give up!!

You should have requested backdate certification through Ask EDD. That's what I had to do when this happened to me. They'll let you certify for those weeks retroactively if you explain the technical issue wasn't your fault.

This is definitely an issue you need to resolve by speaking directly with an EDD representative. When there's a disconnect between email notifications and your UI Online account, it usually indicates an account-specific problem that requires manual intervention. I was stuck in this exact situation last month, and after days of trying to get through the regular EDD number with no success, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have this system that holds your place in line and calls you when an EDD agent is available. Saved me literally days of frustration. Check out their demo video if you're curious how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km When I finally spoke with the rep, they explained that my account had a "certification block flag" due to an unresolved identity verification issue from months ago that wasn't showing up on my UI Online account. They removed the flag and my certification weeks appeared instantly.

Thank you! I hadn't heard of Claimyr before but I'm going to check it out. I've called over 30 times today and can't get through - this is driving me insane. I need to get this resolved ASAP because rent is due next week.

Have you tried using the mobile app instead of the website? Sometimes the app shows different information than the website. Also, check your inbox in UI Online to see if there are any messages about your claim that might explain why you can't certify. If none of that works, you could try submitting a question through Ask EDD. Select "Certifications" as the category and explain your situation. They usually respond within 5-7 days.

I didn't even know there was an app! I'll download that right now and see if it shows anything different. I did check my UI Online inbox and there's nothing there except the original claim approval from 2 months ago. I'll try Ask EDD too, but really hoping I don't have to wait 5-7 days for a response!

I just want to share that I'm going through the EXACT same thing right now! Got the email on Tuesday, no weeks showing up to certify. So frustrating! Please update if you find a solution!

One other thing to check - make sure you don't have any pending quarterly reporting requirements. If you reported any earnings during your claim, sometimes they'll pause certification availability until you complete the DE 4581 Continued Claim Information form. This wouldn't necessarily show up as an alert in UI Online.

Update: I finally got through to EDD! Turns out there was a "system flag" on my account because I had moved to a new address since starting my claim. The representative removed the flag and my certification weeks appeared immediately. For anyone having this issue - keep trying to reach them by phone, it's the only way to get it fixed quickly!

Thank you for the update! I'm still trying to get through but this gives me hope there's an actual solution.
