Can't see payment history after NY unemployment benefits ended - is this normal?
My unemployment benefits expired about 3 weeks ago, and now when I log into my account, I can't see any of my payment history anymore. Everything's just disappeared. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal or if something's wrong with my account. When I login now, there's no option to certify weekly and I can't see any record of previous payments I received. Also, I never got any notification or email telling me my benefits were ending - the system just stopped letting me certify. When I call the unemployment office, the automated system doesn't give me the option to certify either. Has anyone else experienced this after their benefits ran out? Do you eventually get some kind of official notice that your claim is done?

Yeah this happened to me too! All my payment history just vanished when my benefits ran out in april. I called like 50 times and couldnt get through to anyone. finally I used a service called claimyr.com that got me connected to a real person. The agent told me this is normal - they archive your payment history after benefits expire but you can request a copy of your payment history by filling out a form online. you should still have received an email notification though, check your spam folder maybe?

•It's this service that calls unemployment for you and then connects you when there's a real person. saved me HOURS of being on hold. talking to an agent got my payment records sent to me within a week https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•sounds sketchy af... does it actually work? the ny unemployment phone system is literally designed to make you give up.

•100% worked for me. it was the only way I could talk to a live agent after trying for 2 weeks straight on my own. honestly it was the best money i've spent considering i needed those payment records for my apartment application

•which form did you fill out to get your payment history? i'm in the EXACT same situation and need proof of my previous benefits for a loan application

•go to ny.gov/uiservices then look for 'request payment history' under the forms section. took about 10 days to get mine

When my benefits ended in February, I could still see my payment history for about a month, then it disappeared. Never got any official notice that I was done either. I think its just how their terrible system works. You can call and request your payment history though - they'll mail it to you.

This is why i always screenshot EVERYTHING from unemployment. They're systems are trash and things disappear all the time. I took screenshots of every payment confirmation for the 8 months I was on unemployment. Saved my butt when I needed to show proof of income for my apartment application.

•Man I wish I'd done that. Didn't think they'd just erase everything without warning. Lesson learned I guess 😑

•Yeah its ridiculous. The whole system is designed to make everything as difficult as possible. Like they WANT us to fail.

Ok so here's what happening. They archive your claim data about 2-3 weeks after benefits exhaust. It's stupid and they should tell you but they don't. You need to file a freedom of information request to get your payment history now. Or call and speak directly with an agent who can mail it to you. As for notification - they NEVER send anything. The system just stops letting you certify. Another brilliant design feature of our world-class unemployment system 🙄 If you're having trouble reaching someone (which you will because their phone system is a nightmare), try using claimyr.com - it's a service that navigates the phone tree and calls you when they reach a human. Saved me hours of frustration. It was the best thing I did to get my situation sorted out. Also worth knowing - you can apply for a new benefit year if it's been 52+ weeks since you filed your original claim. But you need to have worked and earned enough during that year to qualify again.

•Freedom of information request??? Just to see MY OWN payment history? That's insane!

•Welcome to NY unemployment! Where everything is made unnecessarily complicated. The FOIL request takes forever too - like 30+ days. Calling is faster if you can actually reach a human.

•Does claimyr actually work? Seems too good to be true tbh

•It absolutely works. I spent 3 days trying to get through on my own before using it. Had an agent on the phone within 2 hours after claimyr started calling. talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast

you need to request an official copy of your payment history by submitting a form online. go to labor.ny.gov and look under UI services. they're required by law to provide this to you but they make it unnecessarily complicated.

The same thing happened to me! I think they do this on purpose to make it harder for us to access our records. Try calling early in the morning like 7:55am right before they open. That's how I finally got through. The rep told me they archive payment history after benefits exhaust but they can still access it on their end.

I've been through two unemployment periods in NY and both times when benefits ended, everything disappeared from my online account. It's so frustrating! They should at least send an email warning us so we can save the info. I needed my payment history for taxes and had to wait on hold for THREE HOURS to get someone to help me.

•THREE HOURS? you got lucky. I've been trying to get through for 2 weeks with no success 🙃

Check your email spam folder for notifications about your claim ending. That's where mine went. But yeah, the payment history disappearing is normal (but stupid). You can request your records by calling or submitting a form online.

NYSDOL's website is literally from the stone age. Nothing works right. I had to print out screenshots of my payment history every week because I knew they'd pull something like this. Have you tried logging in from a different browser? Sometimes that works.

•I tried Chrome, Firefox and even Internet Explorer (yes I still have it lol). Same result on all of them - payment history gone.

They are required by law to keep your payment records for 7 years. Call and ask for Form XYZ-55 (Record of Unemployment Insurance Benefits). They'll mail it to you but it takes 2-3 weeks.

Nothing about ny unemployment makes sense. I got a random email 6 months AFTER my benefits ended asking me to verify my identity... for a claim that was already over. The whole system is a dumpster fire.

I ran into this exact problem last year. The only way I got it resolved was using claimyr.com to get through to a rep. They explained that once your benefit year ends, they archive your payment history but it's still accessible to reps. The agent was able to mail me my complete payment history which I needed for a mortgage application. Definitely worth it to speak with someone directly.

•what's the catch with claimyr? never heard of it before

Chloe Boulanger
•no catch - they just call unemployment over and over until they get through, then connect you with the agent. saved me from pulling my hair out after trying to get through for weeks

Your case reminds me of dealing with NY unemployment during covid. KEEP CALLING. Don't give up. The system is deliberately made difficult to navigate. Record keeping is a mess and they don't notify you of anything important. Eventually you'll get through to someone who can help.

I'm in the same boat right now and it's driving me CRAZY. Need my payment history for a housing application and it's just gone. Called 23 times yesterday and couldn't get through. This system is broken beyond belief.

•Try claimyr.com - worth every penny to avoid the phone nightmare. Got me connected to an agent who sent me my payment history within a week.

When I log in, there's a section called 'View Payment History' that still shows everything even though my claim ended months ago. Maybe try clicking around different tabs? Sometimes the info is just hidden behind weird navigation.

•I've clicked literally everywhere on the site. There's nothing. The Payment History section is completely empty.

Pro tip: if you need records from your unemployment claim after it ends, file a 'Right to Know' request through the Department of Labor. I had to do this when I couldn't see my payment history anymore. Takes about 2-3 weeks but they'll send you everything.
