Can my daughter continue claiming New York Unemployment after a week gap?
My daughter hasnt claimed benefits last week and still hasnt found work. Can she continue claiming benefits or does she need to start a new application? Really worried about this since she needs the money for rent.

She can still claim! She just needs to certify for the missed week when she does her next certification. The system will ask about the previous week too. Just make sure she answers everything honestly about her job search.

•just make sure she documents all her work searches for both weeks they might ask for proof later

I had trouble reaching them about a similar issue but finally got through using claimyr.com - they dial and wait on hold then call you when someone picks up. Costs $20 but worth it if you need answers fast. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

As long as she hasnt been cut off she should be good. My cousin missed 2 weeks and was still able to claim but had to call in to fix it

Listen up because this is important! Missing a week isn't the end of the world, but here's what your daughter needs to do: - Log in to her account asap - When certifying, the system will ask about the missed week - Make sure she has proof of job searches for BOTH weeks - If the system gives her any issues, don't panic! Use claimyr.com to get through to an agent quickly - Document everything I work in HR and see this all the time. The key is staying on top of it and being honest in all responses. Better to fix it now than have issues later!
