New York Unemployment: Mom applied a year ago, still no payments - Help!
My mom applied for unemployment benefits last year and still hasnt gotten a single payment. She calls everyday and cant get through to anyone. She's exhausted all her savings and this is getting really scary. Does anyone know what we can do? The website shows pending but nothing happens.

Same thing happened to my aunt. Turns out there was an identity verification issue they never told her about. Try checking the message inbox on the unemployment website, sometimes they send important notices there that get missed 🤔

•She had to upload her drivers license and social security card through their ID.me system. But first she actually had to get someone on the phone to tell her that 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! Used this service called claimyr.com - they dial through the phone menu and wait on hold, then call you when they get an agent. Costs $20 but totally worth it after months of trying. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

IMPORTANT INFO FOR EVERYONE STUCK IN PENDING: Here's what I learned after dealing with this for months: 1. Many claims are stuck because of identity verification issues or employer disputes 2. The system often doesn't tell you whats wrong 3. You NEED to talk to a real person 4. Regular phone calls almost never work Solutions that worked for me: - Use claimyr.com to get through on the phone (yes it costs $20 but its worth it) - Contact your state representative - File a complaint with the DOL DONT give up! Keep trying and document everything. Once you get someone on the phone, they can usually fix it pretty quick.
