Can u show up in person anywhere? When phones and emails fail sometimes physically being there is the only way. NY unemployment is the absolute worst.

omg 23 months?? that should be illegal! Have u tried signing into ur account online to see if theres any messages or requests for additional info? Sometimes they need something but dont tell u and just let ur claim sit there.

you need to be the squeaky wheel. Call your state senator AND assembly person AND local representative AND the governor's office. Make yourself impossible to ignore. I was in the same boat (18 month wait) and this is what finally worked.

Not sure if this will help you but my friend was in a similar situation and she found out they were sending mail to her old address even though she updated it in the system. Might be worth checking if that's happening to you too?

Former DOL employee here (not in NY tho). Wage verification backlogs are insane right now everywhere. What might help is sending in your documentation AGAIN but marking it as "2ND SUBMISSION - URGENT" on every page. Also if you have pay stubs, tax forms, and employer contact info, send ALL of it, even if redundant.

does anyone know if the governors office can help with this kinda stuff? feel like we need to start going over the unemployment offices heads at this point

Have you tried the Ombudsman? NY has one specifically for unemployment issues. Google 'NY unemployment ombudsman office' - they're supposed to help with cases that fall through the cracks.

Lawyer up dude. After my 15 month wait I got an attorney who specializes in unemployment and suddenly my case started moving. Many will work on contingency if you have significant backpay due.

this is why i dont understand why people say unemployment is some kind of 'free money'. the system makes it IMPOSSIBLE to actually get the benefits that we PAID INTO with our taxes. its a scam.

what kind of wage verification did they ask for? i had a similar issue and realized they needed a specific form filled out by my previous employer not just my pay stubs

I hate to say this but the only thing that worked for me was getting through to an actual person on the phone who could look at my file. Calling is Hell but claimyr.com saves so much time - they call and wait on hold for you, then connect you when someone picks up. I got through on my first try after months of failing. File a complaint with the NY State Attorney General. I know someone who did this and suddenly unemployment was VERY interested in resolving their case quickly. Worth a shot.

Check if ur claim status says 'pending' or 'in process' online... if it says pending for that long something is definitely wrong and you should reapply completely. If it says 'in process' then keep pushing. The system is absolutely broken.
