Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. This may sound strange but try logging in from a different device or browser. My account was stuck in limbo and wouldn't process payments when I used Chrome, but when I switched to Firefox suddenly everything worked and payments processed within days. Their website has weird compatibility issues.
honestly i gave up on calling and just went to the physical unemployment office in person. waited 3 hours but actually got someone to look at my account and fix the issue. if you're near one of their offices its worth a shot.

They're called New York State Career Centers. There's locations in each borough and throughout the state. Google "NYS Career Center near me" - they can help with unemployment issues in person.

You can file a complaint with the NY Department of Labor Inspector General. They oversee the unemployment system and investigate complaints about poor service or long delays. Here's their number: 1-800-367-4448. They helped my brother when his claim was stuck for months.
Save your breath. I tried them and they just sent me back to the regular unemployment line. Complete waste of time 😒

I read somewhere that there are organized crime groups specifically targeting unemployment systems because they were so overwhelmed during COVID they didn't have proper security protocols. Scary stuff.
Hey, ID theft investigator here. I don't normally post but your situation is unfortunately common. Beyond what others have suggested (FTC report, IRS contact, etc.) make sure you're documenting EVERYTHING. Take screenshots of the account with the wrong info, save all emails and letters, and record details of every phone call (date, time, who you spoke with, what was discussed). This documentation will be crucial if this drags on or if you need to escalate further. Also, check if your employer offers any identity protection services as a benefit - many do now.

thats MESSED UP. they should at least give people a heads up so you can prepare! the whole system is garbage
If you log into your account and go to payment history, you can see how many effective days you have left. I check mine regularly so I know when it's getting low.
After my regular unemployment ran out, I found the best thing was to call and talk directly to someone at unemployment. They actually told me about some training programs that could extend benefits in certain cases. But it was IMPOSSIBLE to get through on the phone until I found out about claimyr.com - they got me connected to an agent in like 30 mins after I'd been trying for weeks. Best decision I made and talking to that agent helped me figure out my next steps.

It's not like those scammy services that claim to get you more benefits or whatever. They literally just call the unemployment office repeatedly for you and then connect you when they get through. Saved me hours of frustration.

Contact your state representative! I was getting nowhere with unemployment until I reached out to my assemblyman's office. They have special liaisons who can escalate these cases. Google '[your county] NY state assembly representative' to find yours.
