Are you SURE you've been certifying every week? Even if you miss one week of certification it can mess up your whole claim. They don't make it clear but you have to keep certifying even if you aren't getting paid.
Yes, I've been religious about certifying every single week. Haven't missed one.
I'm dealing with the exact same thing! Applied in May 2023, claim shows payable since July, but not a single cent has hit my account. I've called over 50 times. NY unemployment is a joke.
the system is completely clogged rn because of all the tech layoffs hitting NY. my friend who works in the UI office said they're getting 3x the normal applications since april.
I was in the EXACT same situation! Company went under with no warning. If you have the FEIN that's HUGE - they can verify your claim much faster. Mine took 5 weeks from application to first payment once I got someone on the phone. I couldn't get through for weeks until I tried claimyr.com - totally worth it, got my backpay released in one call.
what's this claimyr thing? never heard of it
It's a service that calls unemployment for you and stays on hold, then rings your phone when a real person answers. Saved me hours of frustration. claimyr.com
the ny unemployment system is literally designed to be confusing so people give up 🤮 they WANT you to stop trying so they don't have to pay benefits. KEEP TRYING and don't let them win!
The government dosent care about us, you'll probably be waiting another month tbh. Its all so broken. Nobody answers the phones because they dont want to help us.
Bro who hurt you 😂 But for real though, the system is definitely broken
Try claimyr.com - it was the only thing that worked for me after weeks of trying to get thru. They wait on hold and then call you when they get a human. Talking to an agent fixed my issue in like 10 minutes after it had been stuck for weeks.

you need to call the interstate claims unit directly. the regular agents don't know how to handle out-of-state employer situations. the number is different than the main unemployment line.

•Do you happen to have that number handy? I've been calling the main line.

•don't have it in front of me but if you google "ny unemployment interstate claims unit" it should come up. just be prepared to wait on hold FOREVER. I waited 2+ hours when I called them.

Its all about the tax withholding. If your company wasn't withholding NY state taxes, then NY doesn't show your wages. I bet if you look at your W-2, it shows the other state's withholding. You'll need to send in all those paystubs AND a letter explaining that you physically worked in NY even though the employer is based elsewhere.
