So tired of ppl complaing about the NY unemployment system... we're in a pandemic ppl!!! They're doing their best with outdated systems. Be patient ffs
easy to say "be patient" when ur not about to be evicted... some of us need our $ now not whenever they feel like processing it
I get it's frustrating but the people working there are just doing their jobs. The SYSTEM is broken not the workers
call them back if u dont see the $$ in 5 business days. dont wait around hoping. I had to call to get my payment pushed thru - system glitc was holding it up. Use claimyr.com if u cant get thru on phones
Anyone have any luck filing a formal complaint with the NY Dept of Labor Commissioner's office? I'm considering it for my missing payments.
My bf was in the same situation and finally got it resolved by going IN PERSON to a Department of Labor office! Not many people realize you can do this. He went to the one in Brooklyn and spoke to someone face to face.
Most locations are open 8:30-4:30 but GET THERE EARLY. Like 7:30am early. They only take a certain number of people each day. No appointment system that I know of.
not all offices handle unemployment FYI! call ahead to make sure. some are just for job search assistance
What time zone are you in? I found out that they actually list their hours in Eastern time, but their system sometimes interacts weird with other time zones. Try calling based on Eastern time zone opening hours.
I'm in NY so same time zone. But good tip for others!
Have you tried using the callback service at claimyr.com? I was in the exact same situation - couldn't get through for weeks, needed to verify my identity to get my money. Used their service and had a callback with an actual agent in under 4 hours. Just sharing what worked for me after all that frustration.
No joke, this actually works. It's not a hack - they just have technology that keeps dialing and navigating the phone tree until they get through, then they connect you. Saved me weeks of frustration.
So I was about to throw my phone after 3 hours on hold when my brother told me about this. Got a call back in 2 hours with an actual rep on the line. Fixed my issue in 10 minutes. Sometimes you gotta try new things when the system is broken.
Contact your state assembly person or senator! Seriously, this worked for me when I had issues. Their offices have direct contacts at unemployment and can often get things fixed when you can't get through the normal channels.
yo this happened to me 2! ny unemployment system is straight garbage. biggest thing that helped me was using claimyr to get through to an agent (regular phone lines are impossible). once i talked to someone they explained i'd hit my maximum benefit amount even tho my end date was later. stupid system design fr 👎
got a callback same day, talk like 45 mins. beats spending 8hrs calling and getting nowhere

•If you log into your account and go to payment history, you can see how many effective days you have left. I check mine regularly so I know when it's getting low.

After my regular unemployment ran out, I found the best thing was to call and talk directly to someone at unemployment. They actually told me about some training programs that could extend benefits in certain cases. But it was IMPOSSIBLE to get through on the phone until I found out about claimyr.com - they got me connected to an agent in like 30 mins after I'd been trying for weeks. Best decision I made and talking to that agent helped me figure out my next steps.

•It's not like those scammy services that claim to get you more benefits or whatever. They literally just call the unemployment office repeatedly for you and then connect you when they get through. Saved me hours of frustration.
