Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. Why is ny unemployment payment delayed after holiday weekend?

Submitted my weekly certification around 5am this past Saturday like I always do. Usually by Monday morning it shows as 'authorized' and I get my payment on Tuesday. But this time it's saying 'will be processed on next business day' which would be Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. I'm a bit worried since this has never happened before - my rent is due and I was counting on that deposit. Is the system experiencing delays because of the holiday? Anyone else seeing payment processing taking longer than usual this week?

Don't even bother trying to call. The NY unemployment phone system is hell and you'll wait for hours just to get hung up on. Trust me, with a holiday delay your payment will process - just a day later than usual.

Anyone else locked out of NY unemployment account after password reset?

So frustrated with the NY unemployment portal right now. Last week I tried logging in and kept getting error messages saying my password was incorrect. I KNOW I was using the right password - been using the same one for months with no issues. Finally clicked the 'forgot password' link and went through the whole reset process. Got the email, created new password, everything seemed fine. But now when I try to login with my new password, I get a message saying my account is temporarily locked due to 'suspicious activity' and I need to call the office to verify my identity. Been calling the main number for THREE DAYS and can't get through to anyone. Just automated recordings and then disconnects. I need to certify this week and I'm worried about missing my payment. My rent is due next week and I can't afford to miss this money. Has anyone else dealt with this recently? Any suggestions on how to actually reach a human being there?

had this same nightmare last week!!! after trying EVERYTHING, i finally used claimyr.com and got through to an agent who fixed it in 5 minutes. it was the only thing that worked after days of frustration

if ur unable to certify bcuz of the lockout, document EVERYTHING. dates/times u tried to login, screenshots of errors, when u called, etc. once u get it fixed they can do back payments but u need proof u were trying

Getting fraud notices from NY unemployment for benefits I never collected in 2023

Started getting these weird emails about two weeks ago saying I collected unemployment benefits in March 2023. Thing is, I haven't been on unemployment since July 2022 when I found a new job. The emails look official with the NY unemployment logo and everything, saying I received around $2,140 that month. They're also asking me to verify some claims I supposedly made. I've never even logged into my account during that time! I'm worried someone has stolen my identity and is collecting benefits in my name. I tried calling the fraud department 5 times but can't get through to a real person. Their automated system is useless. I also tried sending emails but just get generic responses. Really anxious about this because I don't want to be responsible for repaying money I never received or worse, getting in trouble for fraud I didn't commit. Has anyone dealt with this? How can I actually reach someone who can help?

So many people dealing with this right now! My theory is that all our data that got leaked in various breaches over the years is finally coming back to haunt us. Unemployment fraud is apparently super profitable for scammers right now.

Did you work out of state at all in the last 18 months? That can cause major delays because they have to verify with other states.

NY unemployment website freezing when submitting part-time work info on questionnaire

So frustrated with the NY unemployment system right now. Started a part-time job three weeks ago and trying to report it properly through their online questionnaire. Every single time I fill out all the information (employer name, address, hours worked, pay rate, etc.) and hit submit, the page just refreshes and gives me another blank form instead of confirming or moving to the next step. I've been trying for 4 days straight now. Tried using Chrome, Firefox, and even Edge. Cleared my cache, disabled extensions, used incognito mode - nothing works! Just keeps giving me blank forms over and over. Anyone else run into this issue? Getting worried they'll accuse me of fraud for not reporting my work even though I'm literally trying everything I can to submit this info correctly.

Ugh dealing with NY unemployment is like stepping back into 1995 internet. Their whole system runs on technology from the dark ages 💀

went through similar BS last year. ended up having to fax (yes, FAX) my information to them because the online system was broken. might be worth trying that route if you can find a fax service.
