NY unemployment back pay arrived then account locked again after answering questionnaire?
After waiting nearly 8 months, I finally got my back payments last week. Was super relieved until I tried to file my weekly claim yesterday. The system suddenly gave me this weird questionnaire about a supposed break in my claims due to employment (which I had already explained in previous filings). I truthfully answered with the info about my short temp job that ended in February. As soon as I submitted the form, my account got flagged for review AGAIN! I'm completely lost on what to do now. This has never happened before and I honestly feel like I'm about to have a mental breakdown. I've been counting on this money for rent and bills, and now everything's frozen again for no reason I can understand.

This exact thing happened to me in April. got my backpay after 7 months of fighting, certified once, then they locked me out with some bs questionnaire about employment gaps. took me another 2 months to get it fixed. the system is designed to break u down so u give up. dont let them win!!

it's probably just a verification issue. anytime u report previous employment they flag ur account for review to make sure u didn't get paid for weeks u were working. should clear up in 2-3 weeks if everything u reported is accurate. if u need it faster u gotta call

The exact same thing hapenned to me in March. I got a resolution by calling the ny unemployment office early in the morning (like 7:55am), and waiting in queue. Did you report all your work history correctly on the original application? If there's any discrepancy they can freeze your account. Also check ur email - they might have sent you a DocuSign form to fill out.

They did this to me too! I think its a tactic to reduce payments honestly. I had to contact my state representative to get help after 3 weeks of trying. Email your local assembly person with all your info and they can sometimes escalate it.

Call your local assemblyperson or state senator. They have special liaisons with unemployment who can clear these holds way faster than u calling the main line. google ur district rep and email their office explaining the situation.

CALL CALL CALL. don't bother with the website or messaging. ny unemployment is a total disaster and the only way to fix anything is to actually talk to someone. start calling the second they open and keep trying all day if needed.

This is standard procedure unfortunately. The fact that u reported a small job triggered their system. Dont give up - keep calling until u get a competent agent who can override the hold. My husband was in this exact situation in May and finally got thru after 2 weeks of trying.

Don't break down! The NY unemployment system does this to almost everyone at some point. They make it hard on purpose hoping people will give up. You just need to talk to a real person who can fix it immediately. Be persistent!
