PA UC weekly claim in review due to 'missing wages' but I didn't work - recall date issue?
I'm so confused and getting anxious about my benefits! I just filed my weekly PA UC claim yesterday and instead of processing normally, it immediately went into 'review' status. The system flagged an issue about 'missing wages' for the week, but here's the thing - I DIDN'T WORK AT ALL that week! The only thing I can think of is that my original recall date to my job was supposed to be January 13th, 2025, but my employer pushed that back by another 3 weeks because of severe weather conditions shutting down operations. I updated this info on my claim when filing. Is the system assuming I returned to work on that original date even though I reported the extension? Has anyone dealt with this 'missing wages' review status before when you actually didn't work? Will this delay my payment? I really need this benefit to come through on time as I've got rent due next week.

This exact thing happened to me last month! PA UC system is super sensitive to any mention of potential return-to-work dates. The system probably flagged your claim because you modified your recall date. What you need to do is call the UC service center ASAP and explain to them that you did NOT work and that the recall date was pushed back. Have your employer confirmation ready (email or whatever you have). They should be able to manually override this flag and release your payment. Don't wait on this one - payment could be held up for weeks otherwise.

•Thanks so much for responding! Ugh, I was afraid I'd need to call them. Do you remember how long it took for them to fix your issue once you got through? I tried calling today but got the busy signal like 10 times in a row...

did u go online and make sure all ur info is updated correctly?? sometimes the system gets confused if theres conflicting dates in different parts of ur account. check ur dashboard and make sure the recall date is correctly updated everywhere

•Good idea, I'll double check that. I thought I updated everything but maybe I missed something in one of the sections.

When you updated your recall date, did you do it through the regular weekly filing or did you use the "Report a Change" option in your dashboard? That makes a difference. For proper record updates, you should always use the separate form for reporting changes to your claim details - weekly filing changes sometimes don't properly update the master record in the system. The "missing wages" flag usually happens when the system expected you to report earnings but you reported zero. Since your original recall date was on record, the system likely expected wage reporting. You'll need to call the UC Service Center to have a claims examiner manually review and clear this issue. Make sure you have documentation from your employer about the date change. And just to clarify - this won't affect your eligibility, it's just a verification hold. Once cleared, your payment should process normally, though there may be a delay of 2-5 business days.

•THIS!!!! I made this exact mistake. Didn't use the "Report a Change" option and just mentioned it in my weekly filing notes. Big mistake! Took 3 weeks to fix because the system kept expecting me to report wages from a job I hadn't actually started yet!

I had something almost exactly like this happen with PA unemployment and it was SO FRUSTRATING!!! The system kept saying I had missing wages when I hadn't worked at all, and it was because my employer submitted something with the wrong date on it. I tried to call UC for TWO WEEKS and never got through - busy signals or disconnects every single time!!! I finally tried a service called Claimyr that connected me to an agent within 45 minutes after weeks of trying on my own. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 and their website is claimyr.com. It saved me so much stress because I was about to miss a car payment waiting for this to get fixed. The agent was able to see exactly what was wrong and fixed it right away - got my payment the next day.

•Yes it does work! I was skeptical too but was desperate after calling 20+ times a day for weeks. It connected me in about 40 mins when I couldn't get through at all on my own. The agent I talked to said they're seeing tons of these recall date issues right now.

THE PA UC SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO CREATE THESE PROBLEMS!!! They WANT you to get stuck in review so they don't have to pay you. I had THREE claims go into review last year for bs reasons and each time they held my money for WEEKS!!! The whole "missing wages" flag is just an excuse - they know damn well most people aren't working if they're filing claims!!! It's all part of their strategy to make claiming unemployment so frustrating that people give up. My advice? DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Take screenshots of your filing confirmations, save emails from your employer about the recall date change, and when you do finally get through to someone DEMAND they escalate it to a supervisor!!! Regular agents will just tell you to "wait" but supervisors can fix it on the spot!!!

•While I understand your frustration, I want to clarify that these system flags aren't designed to deny benefits - they're quality control measures to prevent fraud. The UC system has to verify information when there are discrepancies, and the recall date change creates exactly that kind of discrepancy. You're absolutely right about documenting everything though - that's excellent advice for any UC claimant.

u might wanna check if ur employer reported anything to UC about ur status. sometimes they do that without tellin u and it confuses the system

Quick update: I finally got through to UC this morning after trying for hours yesterday! The agent confirmed it was exactly what you all suggested - the system flagged my claim because my employer had originally reported the Jan 13 recall date, and even though I reported the extension, it created a discrepancy in their system. The agent removed the flag and said my payment should process in the next 24-48 hours. She also mentioned they're seeing a lot of these cases because of all the weather-related delays happening this month. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions! I'll definitely use the "Report a Change" option next time instead of just mentioning it in my weekly filing.

•Great news! Glad you got it sorted out. Just FYI for future reference - whenever your claim goes into review status, always call right away. Some of these flags can sit in the system for weeks if not addressed.

I'm dealing with this exact problem right now too! Been on review for a week. Did your payment actually come through like they promised? Mine's been "processing" for 3 days now after they said they fixed it...

•Yes, it did come through! But it took about 3 business days after they said they fixed it. The agent told me there's an additional processing time once they remove the flag. Hang in there!
