PA UC 'Missing Wages' active issue appeared suddenly - still unemployed but payments stopped
I've been collecting unemployment for about 6 weeks without any problems, filing every Sunday and getting paid by Wednesday like clockwork. Today I logged in to check my payment status and saw an 'active issue' labeled as 'missing wages' on my account! I haven't started working again and nothing has changed with my employment status. My last payment is now showing as 'pending' instead of 'in progress' like usual. Does anyone know what 'missing wages' actually means? Is this some kind of audit they're doing? I'm panicking because I need this money for rent next week and I can't get through on the phone lines. The dashboard doesn't give any other details about what I'm supposed to do to fix this!

•Thanks, but I'm really worried because my rent is due in 8 days and I was counting on this payment. Has a glitch like this ever fixed itself for you without calling?

Missing" wages typically means PA UC is questioning whether your reported wages match what your(employer) s reported. This could happen for a few reasons: 1. Your'employer s quarterly wage reports'don t match what you reported when filing 2.'They re investigating whether you had unreported earnings during weeks you claimed benefits 3. There could be a discrepancy with your base year wage calculations Unfortunately, this'won t resolve itself without contact with UC.'You ll need to speak with an examiner to clear itup.

•Oh no, that sounds serious. My employer laid me off exactly as I reported, and I haven't worked a single day since then. How long does resolving something like this usually take?

•It varies widely - could be resolved in a few days if you get through to the right person, or it could take 2-3 weeks if they need to contact your employer for verification. Keep filing your weekly claims while this is being resolved so you don't miss any eligible weeks.

i had something similiar happen to me back in january. missing wages issue popped up and payments stopped. turned out my employer submitted an incorrect quarterly report. took about 10 days to fix but they did backpay me for the missed weeks

•10 days is a long time to wait... did you have to keep calling them, or did they eventually contact you?

After spending WEEKS trying to get through to someone about my missing wages issue (that was totally their mistake btw), I finally used Claimyr to connect with a UC agent. It's this service that gets you through the phone system and puts you in the queue so you don't have to keep redialing. Took about 30 minutes instead of days of calling. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 or just go to claimyr.com. Seriously saved my sanity and got my issue fixed in one call.

•I've heard mixed things about these services. Did they actually connect you directly to an unemployment representative who could resolve your issue?

To address your specific question about "missing wages" - this is a standard issue type when there's a discrepancy between wages in your claim and what's on record. Here's what you should do: 1. Continue filing your weekly claims without fail 2. Gather documentation of your employment and separation (last paystubs, termination letter, etc) 3. Contact UC as soon as possible - they'll need to speak with you to resolve this 4. Check your PA UC dashboard for any notices requiring a response The system uses "missing wages" as a general category for several potential wage-related issues. Only a UC representative can tell you the exact nature of your specific issue.

•Thank you for the clear explanation! I just checked my dashboard again and don't see any notices yet. Is the regular UC phone number the best one to call for this specific issue?

Natasha Petrova
•Yes, you'll need to call the regular UC service center at 1-888-313-7284. Be prepared for a long wait - Monday mornings and Friday afternoons are typically the worst times to call. Mid-week mid-day tends to have slightly better availability.

when I saw missing wages last year it was because they were checking if I reported earnings correctly. but I hadn't worked either! turned out to be a mistake. they fixed it but took like 3 weeks and I had to call like crazy

•3 weeks?! That's terrifying. Did they at least backpay you for all the weeks that were held up?

•yea they did backpay everything once it was fixed but it was super stressful waiting. keep filing every week even if its not paying!

One more thing to check - log into your UC account and go to the "View Claim History/Status" section. Sometimes there's additional information about the issue there that doesn't show up on the dashboard. Also check if you received any UC correspondence in your dashboard messages or by mail that might explain the specific issue.

•I just checked the claim history and there's a new entry from yesterday that says "Claimant wages under investigation" but nothing more specific. Nothing in my messages either. I guess I really do need to talk to someone to figure this out.

•THE SAME THING is on my account right now!!! Been trying to call for DAYS!! This is absolutely ridiculous that they can just stop our money with no explanation!! How are we supposed to pay bills???

btw make sure u answer YES to the question about being able and available for work when u do ur weekly claim even with this issue. some ppl get confused and answer wrong which makes more problems

•I've been careful about that - always answer yes that I'm available and looking for work, and I've been keeping records of my job search activities too.

After helping several clients with this issue, I can tell you that "missing wages" investigations are typically resolved in 1-3 weeks. Keep in mind: 1. The issue is often triggered by automated system checks, not something you did wrong 2. Once resolved, payments will resume and include any weeks that were held pending resolution 3. In about 70% of cases I've seen, the issue was resolved in the claimant's favor The key is getting through to a representative who can see the specific details of your case. Continue to certify each week while waiting for resolution.

•Thank you! That's actually somewhat reassuring. I'll keep trying to get through on the phone and hope it doesn't take the full 3 weeks to resolve.

I went through this exact same situation last month! The "missing wages" flag appeared out of nowhere even though I hadn't worked since my layoff. Turns out my former employer had submitted their quarterly wage report late, which triggered the system to flag my account for review. Here's what worked for me: I called first thing Monday morning at exactly 8:00 AM and got through after about 45 minutes on hold. The representative was able to see that it was just a timing issue with my employer's reporting and cleared it immediately. My payments resumed the next day and I got all the backpay. Don't panic - keep filing your weekly claims and gather any documentation you have from your layoff (termination letter, final paystub, etc.) to have ready when you do get through to someone. The vast majority of these cases get resolved quickly once you actually speak to a person who can look at your file.

•This is so helpful to hear! I'm really hoping my situation is similar to yours with just a timing issue. I'm going to try calling first thing Monday morning like you suggested. Did you have to provide any specific documentation when you spoke to them, or were they able to resolve it just by looking at your account?

•I'm actually going through the exact same thing right now! My "missing wages" issue just appeared yesterday and I'm freaking out about rent too. Reading your experience gives me some hope that this might resolve quickly. Did you have to keep calling back multiple times, or did that one Monday morning call fix everything? Also, when you say "first thing Monday morning" do you mean right at 8 AM when they open?

•@Mateo Martinez Yes, I called right at 8:00 AM sharp - I had the number ready and hit redial the second the clock hit 8. That one call on Monday morning was all it took! The representative could see everything in my file and explained that my employer s'late quarterly report had triggered an automatic flag, but once she reviewed it she could tell there was no actual issue. She cleared it while I was on the phone and told me to expect payments to resume within 24-48 hours. I was so relieved! Just make sure you have your SSN and PIN ready when you call, and maybe jot down the dates of your last day of work and when you filed your claim. Good luck!

I'm going through this exact same thing right now! Just logged into my PA UC account this morning and saw the dreaded "missing wages" active issue. Like you, I've been collecting without problems for several weeks and haven't worked at all since my layoff. My heart sank when I saw my payment status changed from "in progress" to "pending." Reading through all these responses is both reassuring and terrifying - it sounds like this could resolve quickly if it's just a system glitch or employer reporting issue, but the stories about 3+ week delays have me really worried. I'm in the same boat with rent coming up and was counting on this week's payment. I'm going to try the advice about calling right at 8 AM Monday morning. Has anyone had luck getting through at other times of day, or is early morning really the best bet? Also wondering if anyone knows whether these "missing wages" flags are more common at certain times of year when employers submit quarterly reports? Thanks for posting about this - at least now I know I'm not alone and there's hope for getting it resolved!

•I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too! It's such a stressful situation when you're depending on those payments. From what I've been reading here, it sounds like calling right at 8 AM on Monday really is the best strategy - several people have had success with that approach. As for timing with quarterly reports, that's a really good question! I wonder if we're seeing more of these issues now because we're near the end of Q1 and employers are submitting their reports. That would explain why multiple people are experiencing this at the same time. I'm planning to follow the same advice - call Monday at 8 AM sharp with all my documentation ready. Hopefully we can both get through and get this resolved quickly. Keep us posted on how it goes for you, and I'll do the same. We're definitely not alone in this!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now too! Just saw the "missing wages" flag appear on my account yesterday and I'm really panicking. Reading through everyone's experiences here is helping me understand this better though. From what I'm gathering, this seems to be happening to a lot of people recently - maybe it really is related to quarterly reporting season like someone mentioned? It's somewhat comforting to know that most cases seem to get resolved in the claimant's favor, but the waiting period is what's really scary when you have bills due. I'm going to try the Monday 8 AM calling strategy that multiple people have recommended. Does anyone know if there's a specific extension or option to press when you call to get to someone who handles wage issues specifically, or do you just go through the general customer service line? Also keeping my fingers crossed that this gets resolved quickly for all of us going through this right now. Will definitely keep filing my weekly claims in the meantime like everyone suggested. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it's helping me stay a bit more calm about this!

•You're definitely not alone - it seems like there's been a wave of these "missing wages" issues hitting accounts recently! When you call the main UC number (1-888-313-7284), you'll go through the general customer service line. There isn't a specific extension for wage issues, but once you get connected to a representative, they should be able to access your account and see the specific details of the flag. I'd recommend having your SSN, PIN, and any employment documentation ready before you call. Based on what others have shared, the representatives seem to be able to resolve these pretty quickly once they can actually look at your file and see what triggered the flag. The hardest part is just getting through to someone! Good luck with your Monday morning call - hopefully we'll all have some success stories to share next week. Keep filing those weekly claims in the meantime!

I'm going through the EXACT same thing right now! Just noticed the "missing wages" active issue on my account this morning and I'm completely stressed about it. Like you, I've been collecting for about 5 weeks without any problems and haven't worked a single day since my layoff. Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually giving me some hope though. It sounds like this might be related to quarterly reporting deadlines since so many people are experiencing this at the same time. The fact that most cases seem to get resolved in favor of the claimant is reassuring, even though the wait time is terrifying when you have bills coming up. I'm definitely going to try the Monday 8 AM calling strategy that several people have recommended. In the meantime, I'll keep filing my weekly claims and gather up all my termination paperwork to have ready. Thanks for posting about this - it's helping to know we're not alone in dealing with this issue! Hopefully we can all get through to someone quickly and get this resolved. Please keep us updated on what happens when you call!

•I'm so glad you found this thread helpful! It's been really reassuring for me too to see that so many others are going through the exact same thing right now - definitely makes it seem like this is some kind of system-wide issue rather than something we individually did wrong. The timing with quarterly reports really does make sense. I'm planning to call Monday morning too, so hopefully we'll both have good news to report back. It's scary how much we depend on these payments and how quickly everything can feel uncertain when something like this pops up out of nowhere. But reading about people getting it resolved in one phone call once they actually reach someone is giving me hope. Let's definitely keep each other updated on how the calls go! Good luck to you and everyone else dealing with this right now.

I just wanted to add some perspective as someone who's been through multiple UC issues over the years - the "missing wages" flag is actually one of the more straightforward issues to resolve once you get through to someone. Unlike overpayment issues or work search problems, wage discrepancies are usually pretty clear-cut from the system's perspective. What's likely happening is that PA's system does automated cross-checks between your reported wages and employer quarterly filings, and when there's any timing mismatch or delay in employer reporting, it triggers this flag as a precaution. The good news is that once a human reviews it, they can usually see immediately if it's just a reporting timing issue versus an actual discrepancy. For those calling Monday morning - if you can't get through at 8 AM, try again around 10:30 AM. Sometimes there's a second wave of availability after the initial morning rush dies down. And definitely keep detailed notes of when you call and what you're told - it helps if you need to call back. Hang in there everyone - this really does seem to be affecting a lot of people right now, which suggests it's a system issue that will get sorted out relatively quickly once the backlog clears.
