ESD payments suddenly stuck in 'processing' for last two weeks - anyone else experiencing this?

I've been receiving my unemployment benefits without any issues for the past 3 months, and suddenly the last two weekly claims are just showing as 'processing' with no payment dates. Nothing has changed with my situation - I'm still doing all my job search activities, reporting them correctly, and filing on time every week. My online account doesn't show any pending issues or alerts. This is getting really stressful because I've got rent due next week and was counting on these payments. Has anyone experienced this recently? Did your payments eventually go through? I've tried calling ESD about 25 times but can't get through to a real person. Any advice would be super appreciated!!

This is happening to a lot of people right now. ESD is having some kind of system issue with payment processing since their latest website update. My last three payments were stuck in processing, then suddenly all three came through yesterday. The important thing is to keep filing your weekly claims on time even if the payments aren't showing up yet. As long as there's no disqualification notice, you'll eventually get the money - it's just a matter of when.

That's such a relief to hear it's not just me! Did you get any notification when they finally processed your payments or did you just have to keep checking your account?

I had this happen last month. What fixed it for me was sending a message through the eServices portal specifically asking about the processing delay. Use the dropdown for \

There are a few things that could be happening here:\n\n1. System delay - as someone mentioned, ESD did update their processing system recently\n2. Quarterly review - at the end of each quarter, ESD automatically reviews all claims which can delay payments\n3. Random eligibility check - they periodically select claims for verification\n4. Hidden adjudication - sometimes issues go to adjudication without clear notification\n\nThe most important thing is to continue filing weekly claims on time. If this continues beyond 3 weeks, you may need to escalate. While messaging through eServices can work, getting through to a live agent is more effective for payment delays.

Thank you for explaining those possibilities. I didn't even think about the quarterly review thing, and we did just end a quarter. That might be it. How would I know if I'm in adjudication? Would it say that somewhere specific on my account?

my brother had this issue last month his payments were stuck for almost 4 weeks! ended up being that they needed more information about one of his job search activities but the message never showed up in his account. he finally got through to someone and they fixed it that day. definitely keep trying to call.

After struggling with the same issue for weeks, I finally tried using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent on the phone. Found it at claimyr.com and watched their demo video (https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3) to see how it works. They basically hold your place in line and call you when an agent is available. Totally worth it after spending hours getting nowhere with the regular phone system. The agent was able to see that my account had a flag for a job search review, even though nothing showed up on my online account. They cleared it right away and my payments processed the next day.

I've never heard of this service before. Did you have to give them your personal ESD information? I'm always cautious about third-party services.

No, they don't access your ESD account at all - they just handle the phone system part to get you connected with an actual ESD agent. Once you're connected, you talk directly with ESD. It basically just saves you from having to redial hundreds of times yourself.

This is a good point. To check if you're in adjudication, look in your eServices account under

Just checked and I don't see anything under Pending Issues. My correspondence folder just has my monetary determination from when I first applied, and the weekly claim confirmations. Nothing about needing more information. It's like everything is normal except the payments just aren't happening.

UPDATE: I just called the technical support line (not the regular claims line) and they told me there IS a known system issue affecting payment processing times. They said it's affecting claims filed in the last 3 weeks and they're working on resolving it. The tech support number is much easier to get through on - try 855-682-0785. They can't fix payment issues but at least they confirmed it's a system problem and not something wrong with individual claims.

THANK YOU!! i just called and got through right away! they said the same thing and that all delayed payments should process by end of next week!!! why cant ESD just announce this stuff publicly instead of making us all panic????

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I just called that number and actually got through to someone. They confirmed my payments are just caught in the system delay and should be processed within 5-7 business days. Such a relief to at least know what's going on!

For future reference, when this happens (and unfortunately, it happens periodically with ESD), here's the escalation process I recommend:\n\n1. First week of delay: Send message through eServices portal\n2. Second week: Call technical support line (855-682-0785)\n3. Third week: Try to reach claims agents directly (best early morning, 7:30-8:00am)\n4. Fourth week: Contact your state representative's office for help\n\nAlso, document everything - dates of calls, names of agents, confirmation numbers, etc. This can be important if you later need to appeal any decisions about delayed payments.

Great advice. I'd also add that maintaining a claims journal with dates, times, and details of all your interactions with ESD can be invaluable. Washington law requires ESD to pay interest on significantly delayed benefits in some circumstances, but you need documentation to pursue this.

I had no idea about the interest payment requirement. I'm definitely going to start keeping better records. Thanks for all the help everyone - this community has been so much more helpful than anything I could find on the official ESD website!
